“Partnering with comic legend Stan Lee himself and Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Comikaze is the only pop-culture convention owned and operated by true pop-culture icons,” reads Comikaze Expo 2015’s official description. “After spending much time researching both local and national conventions in the United States, Regina Carpinelli, the co-founder and CCO of Comikaze Entertainment Inc, and the rest of the Comikaze team have crafted an event that will thrill and excite even the most casual comic fan.”

As you can see from the images, the “casual fan” isn’t necessarily the norm for Comikaze Expo 2015. There’s a lot of creative, talented cosplay on display.

“Having attracted 62,000 fans from around the country in our fourth year, Stan Lee’s Comikaze is quickly growing into one of the most diverse and celebrated geek and pop-culture events in the United States,” the official description continues. “Our 2014 event housed over 600 diverse artists and vendors, selling exclusive, rare and limited editions of comics, collectibles, art, toys and other hard-to-find merchandise.”

You can check out all our past cosplay galleries from conventions like D23, Dragon Con, WonderCon, MomoCon, and Comic-Con International by clicking here. Be sure to let us know if there’s a convention you’d like to see us cover in the future, too!

Power Rangers Movie Will Use Classic Character Names

The upcoming Power Rangers movie will use the classic character names

As the casting for Lionsgate’s upcoming Power Rangers movie rolled out it was unclear if the film would be taking its cues from the original series. With every announcement each actor was only designated by the corresponding color of the Ranger they would be playing and no further details. Now, a tweet from the official Power Rangers account has seemingly revealed that the characters in the film will feature the same names as the original cast.

Dacre Montgomery will lead the team as Jason aka the Red Ranger with RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and The Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The Martian, “Terra Nova”) as Kimberly aka the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack aka the Black Ranger, and musician Becky G. as Trini aka the Yellow Ranger.

Screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class, Thor) wrote the screenplay for Power Rangers, which is described as a modern reinvention of the long-running franchise. In it, a group of ordinary high school kids find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world. Original creator Haim Saban is acting as producer along with Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur.

Saban’s “Power Rangers” franchise is the brainchild of Haim Saban, creator and producer of the original “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” hit series that launched in 1993. Following its introduction, “Power Rangers” quickly became the most-watched children’s television program in the United States and remains one of the top-rated and longest running boys live-action series in television history. The series follows the adventures of a group of ordinary teens who “morph” into superheroes and save the world from evil. It is seen in more than 150 markets around the world, translated into numerous languages and is a mainstay in the most prominent international children’s programming blocks.

20th Century Fox previously released two feature films, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie in 1995 and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie in 1997.

Set to be directed by Project Almanac‘s Dean Israelite, Power Rangers will debut in theaters on January 13, 2017.

Mark Ruffalo Teases Thor: Ragnarok, Not Hopeful for Solo Hulk Film

Thor: Ragnarok star teases the Thor, Hulk, and Loki dynamic

We know that Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Hulk are set to appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, but does that mean that Marvel Studios is closer to putting the giant green rage monster in his own movie now?

“Actually, it feels even further away,” Ruffalo tells USA Today. “It’s not Marvel’s property, it’s Universal’s property. I don’t know. It seems really problematic.”

That said, Ruffalo would still be interested in pursuing his own movie, citing the Banner/Hulk rivalry as fertile ground for exploration

“I’d love to do it, it’d be really fun. There’s a lot still to do with the character. I always try to think about different places we could go with him…When you get off of the planet Earth, you can start playing with that stuff a little bit. I’m angling for it. I don’t know if it’ll happen now, but at some point, I’d like to see it happen. When I was doing Age of Ultron — doing the Scarlet Witch acid trip scenes — it really took me a long time to figure out what the Hulk would be afraid of. And then I realized, it was Banner. That relationship is what we’re all so into, but we’ve never seen them in the same scene together — you’re either one or the other, or somewhere in between. But I always imagined that that could be pretty exciting if we could pull it off.”

The actor went on to tease the “buddy cop” Thor: Ragnarok, saying:

“I don’t know what the story is yet, but it’ll be (Loki) and Thor, and then I’ll be in there here and there. But I don’t know any of the particulars quite yet. I’ve talked to Taika (Waititi, the director) a little bit and I like where it’s headed. … Chris (Hemsworth) and I have a really good time together, we goof off and play around when Tom Hiddleston is around. So it’ll be a lot of funny back-and-forth, especially with Taika, he does that really well. It’ll have that kind of antagonistic Odd Couple-thing going on.”

Thor: Ragnarok will close out the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Asgardian trilogy. It features a screenplay by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and Craig Kyle (producer on previous two Thor films), and will continue the cliffhanger ending of Thor: The Dark World wherein it was revealed that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has secretly taken the Asgardian throne in guise of his adoptive father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins). The film will start pre-production in Queensland, Australia in January 2016 with filming to begin in June 2016.

“Flight of the Conchords” and What We Do in the Shadows helmer Taika Waititi will direct Thor: Ragnarok, which Marvel Studios will release on November 3, 2017 in 3D/2D theaters and IMAX.
