Sigourney Weaver has been a staple of genre and fan-favorite movies for decades, and she’s not finished yet. Weaver is slated to return for the upcoming Avatar sequels, which she says are more amazing than the first film from 2009.

“In my opinion, the three scripts I’ve read so far are many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope,” Weaver told Variety. “(James Cameron) did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first movie, establishing the family and the relationships and the world, and now he really gets to play.”

She’s also slated to break into the world of superheroes by playing the main villain of the upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders on Netflix. Weaver was tight-lipped about her role but did offer a tease for it, saying:

“I can’t say much, because they might kill me. I think everyone I work for might kill me if I tell you anything. But I have the most delicious character. She’s really smart, and she’s very in charge.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the first Avatar sequel is expected to hit theaters in December 2018 and would be followed by three more films in December 2020, December 2022, and December 2023. Confirmed to feature the return of cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver, the Avatar sequels will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through their Lightstorm Entertainment. The sequels are written by Cameron along with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.

Marvel’s The Defenders is now in production and will feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Krysten RItter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist. In addition, Elden Henson will be reprising as Foggy Nelson along with Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Simone Missick as Misty Knight. Eka Darville as Malcolm, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Elodie Yung as Elektra, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. It has been hinted that Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher will return for the series as well, but that remains unconfirmed. The series will premiere in 2017.
