Brad Pitt set to join Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Brad Pitt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) is set to join Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception) in Quentin Tarantino’s Sharon Tate film, now titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, according to THR. The Sony Pictures film will be released in theaters on August 9, 2019.

Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, Tarantino’s upcoming movie focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and is looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick — who’s also his stunt double — is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.

Brad Pitt starred in Quentin Tarantino’s film Inglorious Basterds, while Leonardo DiCaprio starred in his film Django Unchained. Pitt is also known for starring in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Twelve Monkeys, Moneyball and World War Z.

The release date for the film will mark the 50th anniversary of the murder of Sharon Tate and four others on August 9, 1969.

Kristen Wiig in Talks to Play Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2

Kristen Wiig is in talks to play a villain in Wonder Woman 2

Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live) is in talks to play the villain Cheetah in the upcoming sequel Wonder Woman 2, according to Deadline. Cheetah is the most well known of Wonder Woman’s rogue’s gallery.

Director Patty Jenkins is returning behind the camera for Wonder Woman 2, and is currently co-writing the script with Dave Callaham (The Expendables, Godzilla) and DC Films co-chairman Geoff Johns. The producing credits on the film are still in flux after Zack and Deborah Snyder left DC Films during production on Justice League, and Warner Bros.’ deal with financier RatPac Entertainment is ending soon after the fallout from the Brett Ratner scandal.

Gal Gadot played the title role in last summer’s Wonder Woman, which also starred Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock. The film was produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Stephen Jones, Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, Wesley Coller and Rebecca Steel Roven serving as executive producers. The film took in $821 million at the global box office and was a critical and audience success.

Cheetah was created by William Moulton Marston and first appeared in Wonder Woman #6 in 1943.There have been a number of versions of Cheetah in the comics, including the characters Priscilla Rich, Deborah Domaine, Barbara Anne Minerva, and Sebastian Ballesteros. Cheetah has the abilities of the animal she was named after, given to her by the plant-god Urzkartaga.

Kristen Wiig is known for playing the lead role of Annie in Bridesmaids, which she also wrote. She was a cast member on Saturday Night Live, and has been seen in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Skeleton Twins and the series The Last Man on Earth.

Syfy Has Renewed The Magicians for Season 4

Syfy has renewed The Magicians for a fourth season

Syfy has renewed their hit series The Magicians for a fourth season. The announcement was made on the show’s official Twitter with a short motion poster and the caption “Raise your hand if today just became the best day ever. #TheMagicians will be back for Season 4!” According to Deadline, The Magicians Season 4 will have 13 episodes and premiere in 2019. The show is currently in the middle of its third season, with the finale set to air on March 28.

Based on Lev Grossman’s bestselling novels, The Magicians centers on Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his 20-something friends as they are thrust into the unfamiliar world of the beautifully enchanting yet mysteriously dangerous Fillory – and places beyond – where they must draw upon their novice skills to save the existence of magic.

The Magicians stars Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, Rick Worthy and Jade Tailor. The series is executive produced by John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Chris Fisher and Groundswell Productions’ Michael London and Janice Williams.

Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa Set to Write and Direct Black Hole Adaptation

Dope writer and director Rick Famuyiwa set to adapt and direct Charles Burns’ graphic novel Black Hole

Dope writer/director Rick Famuyiwa is set to take the helm and script duties for New Regency and Plan B’s adaptation of Charles Burns’ graphic novel Black Hole, according to THR. Black Hole will be produced by Plan B and Arnon Milchan from New Regency. Black Hole was set to be adapted by Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D, The Hills Have Eyes) was up to adapt the work back in 2005, then Neil Gaiman (American Gods, the upcoming Good Omens) and Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction) were in development with David Fincher (The Social Network) up to direct.

Black Hole, released in 2005, has won the Eisner, Harvey, and Ignatz Awards. Amazon describes the graphic novel as follows: “The setting: suburban Seattle, the mid-1970s. We learn from the outset that a strange plague has descended upon the area’s teenagers, transmitted by sexual contact. The disease is manifested in any number of ways — from the hideously grotesque to the subtle (and concealable) — but once you’ve got it, that’s it. There’s no turning back. As we inhabit the heads of several key characters — some kids who have it, some who don’t, some who are about to get it — what unfolds isn’t the expected battle to fight the plague, or bring heightened awareness to it , or even to treat it. What we become witness to instead is a fascinating and eerie portrait of the nature of high school alienation itself — the savagery, the cruelty, the relentless anxiety and ennui, the longing for escape. And then the murders start.”

Famuyiwa is known for directing the pilot for Showtime’s The Chi and directing the HBO film Confirmation starring Kerry Washington, which was nominated for an Emmy Award.

A new international poster and trailer for the Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm film Solo: A Star Wars Story has hit the web. You can check out the poster in our gallery and watch the trailer in the player below. There isn’t any new footage in the trailer, but it appears to be a mashup of the Super Bowl teaser and the trailer, which was released the next day.

Woody Harrelson is playing Han’s mentor, a man by the name of Beckett, while Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke, Westworld‘s Thandie Newton, Avengers‘ Paul Bettany, and Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star.

In the wake of the departure of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm hired director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code) to take their place. It is unknown how credit will be divided for the finished film, as at least 3/4s of it was already shot when Howard took over.

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a release in theaters on May 4, 2018. Then, the Avengers assemble again for the still-untitled fourth film, set for May 3, 2019.

Heathers Series Delayed by Paramount Network

Heathers series delayed by Paramount Network

Paramount Network has announced they will delay the premiere of the upcoming TV reboot of Heathers. Their statement on the decision reads:

“Paramount Network’s original series ‘Heathers’ is a satirical comedy that takes creative risks in dealing with many of society’s most challenging subjects ranging from personal identity to race and socio-economic status to gun violence. While we stand firmly behind the show, in light of the recent tragic events in Florida and out of respect for the victims, their families and loved ones, we feel the right thing to do is delay the premiere until later this year.” 

Heathers is an upcoming series reboot of the cult classic 1988 film of the same name. The show stars Grace Victoria Cox as Veronica Sawyer, James Scully as JD, Melanie Field as Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell as Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews as Heather McNamara. Original film cast member Shannen Doherty will appear as well as Selma Blair.

Based on the 1988 cult classic film of the same name, Heathers is an hour-long pitch-black comedy anthology set in the present day, as heroine Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox, Under the Dome) deals with a very different but equally vicious group of ‘Heathers.’ Also starring are James Scully as JD, Melanie Field (Wicked National Tour) as Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell (Funny or Die) as Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews as Heather McNamara. Original Heathers cast member Shannen Doherty will guest star as a pivotal, unnamed character as well.

Violett Beane to Star in CBS Series God Friended Me

Violett Beane to star in CBS series God Friended Me

Deadline reports Violett Beane will star in the upcoming CBS comedic drama God Friended Me. She will star opposite Brandon Micheal Hall in the hour-long faith-based procedural. The series comes from Alcatraz co-creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, director Marcos Siega, Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros.

Lilien and Wynbrandt will executive produce alongside Siega and Berlanti Prods.’ Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie and Joe Morton round out the cast.

The series is described as “a humorous, uplifting series that explores questions of faith, existence and science.” Hall portrays an outspoken atheist named Miles “whose life is turned upside down when he is ‘friended’ by God on Facebook. Unwittingly, he becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.” 

Beane stars as the confident, compelling and quick-witted Cara Weiss who is a leading writer at an online magazine. While she is in search her next big story, “her life takes an interesting turn when she meets Miles” thanks to the friend suggestions from God.

The actress took to her Twitter to express her excitement with starring in the project. Beane is best known for her role Jesse Quick on CW’s The Flash. She also stars on the Fox medical drama series The Resident and will appear in the upcoming Blumhouse horror thriller Truth or Dare which will hit theaters on Friday April the 13th.

God Friended Me has no premiere date as of yet.

Freeform, Disney’s young adult television network, today announced Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will have its world premiere watch party during South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, on March 11, as partner programming. The premiere will mark Freeform and Marvel Television’s first presence at SXSW. You can check out a new promo for the series in the player below!

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly discovered superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another.

Following the world premiere, series stars Holt and Joseph along with executive producer and showrunner Joe Pokaski, director Gina Prince-Bythewood, and executive producer and Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, will take the stage for a discussion about creating “Cloak” and “Dagger” – a pair of young adults navigating life’s issues of relationships, loss and race, and forming their own identities.

The highly anticipated new series premieres on June 7 at 8:00 p.m. EDT with a two-hour event on Freeform. Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is based on the beloved comic characters and is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios.

Ansel Elgort in talks for Hans Christian Andersen musical

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Ansel Elgort is said to be a top contender for a role in an upcoming musical on Hans Christian Andersen. Should Elgort sign on he will portray a young version of of the prolific author who “gets trapped by his own imagination in the worlds of his own making.”

Fox 2000 picked up the original fantasy musical that comes from a number of brilliantly talented creative minds including Stephen Schwartz who is the composer and lyricist of the Broadway hit Wicked. Schwartz will work on the film’s musical components while Mary Poppins Returns writer David Magee is set to pen the script. Chicago producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are set for producing duties. The duo are currently working on the live television musical adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar led by John Legend. Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiv will oversee the project for Fox 2000.

Andersen is best known for his iconic children’s fairy tales including The Emperor’s New Clothes and Thumbelina. A number of his works are available in the public domain including The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen and The Ugly Duckling whose various film adaptations and inspirations contributed to the author’s rise to prominence.

Elgort is a rising star in young Hollywood, starring in such hit films as The Fault In Our Stars and Baby Driver. He is also a talented singer/rapper and recently released a single called “Supernova.” He is currently filming alongside Nicole Kidman in the John Crowley-directed drama The Goldfinch.

No release date for the Andersen project has been announced as of yet.

Yellowstone teaser trailer: Kevin Costner returns to TV!

Paramount Network has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Kevin Costner series, Yellowstone, which follows the violent world of the Duttons, a ranching family in Montana.

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Wind River) is looking to continue his exploration of the gritty, violent underbelly of the American heartland in the filmmaker’s new series. The show is set near the titular national park and will focus on the violence needed to maintain the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.

Two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Costner stars as John Dutton, the patriarch of the family who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

The cast also includes Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Dave Annable, Danny Huston, Gil Birmingham, Jefferson White, Gretchen Mol, Jill Hennessey, Patrick St. Esprit, Ian Bohen, and Denim Richards. The series was shot near Park City, Utah last year.

Yellowstone is executive produced by Weinstein Television, John and Art Linson (Sons of Anarchy, Fight Club, Heat) and Kevin Costner.

Chris Hemsworth in talks for new Men In Black movie

Chris Hemsworth had his hands full with aliens in last year’s Thor: Ragnarok and he better get used to it as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that he’s now in talks for the new Men In Black movie from Sony. THR also reveals our first bit of plot details for the film which they say takes place in London and centers around a “new combination” of characters that include “a white character, a black woman, and an older man.”

The untitled Men in Black spinoff will not feature Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones, but it will expand on the world of the original trilogy. This will be a different project from the aborted 21 Jump Street franchise mashup, MIB 23, which Jonah Hill admitted last year was “too complicated” in terms of the deals needed. That film remains in development, however.

The new untitled Men in Black film is set to be directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Fate of the Furious) and is been written by Matt Holloway & Art Marcum (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight). Original franchise producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are back along with executive producer Steven Spielberg.

The original Men in Black, starring the winning combo of Smith and Jones, came out twenty years ago in the summer of 1997, and grossed $589 million worldwide. Its 2002 sequel, Men in Black II, grossed $441 million worldwide and was less enthusiastically received by critics and audiences alike, while the 2012 threequel MIB 3 took the series back on course creatively and earned $642 million worldwide, despite a troubled filming process. Barry Sonnenfeld directed all three original pictures.

The Men in Black reboot will arrive in theaters on June 14, 2019.

Jennifer Carpenter & Morris Chestnut join NBC pilot The Enemy Within

TV Line reports that Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) and Morris Chestnut (Rosewood) have joined the cast of NBC’s new drama pilot, The Enemy Within.

Carpenter will star as CIA operations deputy Erica Wolfe, described as “a highly intelligent codebreaker who learned her craft from her father.” She will team up with Will Keaton (Chestnut), an FBI counter-intelligence agent. Carpenter and Chestnut are joining the previously cast Raza Jaffrey (Code Black) who will play an FBI agent specializing in interrogation techniques.

The Enemy Within is written and executive produced by Ken Woodruff (Gotham) and is being billed as a “character-driven investigative thriller.”

Carpenter is currently filming the upcoming action-drama, Dragged Across Concrete, alongside Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn. In Dragged Across Concrete, a stolid, old guard policeman, Ridgeman (Gibson) and his volatile younger partner, Anthony (Vaughn), find themselves suspended when a video of their strong-arming tactics become the media’s special du jour. Low on cash and with no other options, these two embittered soldiers descend into the criminal underworld to gain their just due but instead find far more than they wanted awaiting them in the shadows. The movie is slated for release in 2018.

Disney has released a new promo for the Star Wars Rebels series finale episode which you can check out in the player below!

The final three episodes of the series will air this Monday, March 5 starting at 8:30p on Disney XD. They include  “A Fool’s Hope,” wherein Ezra calls in every favor he can to rally together a ragtag group for a seemingly impossible fight against Governor Pryce and her Imperial forces; and “Family Reunion – and Farewell,” where Ezra and team take drastic action to free Lothal. As teased in the recent Star Wars Rebels trailer, Emperor Palpatine makes his series debut in the final episodes of the series, voiced by actor Ian McDiarmid, who reprises this iconic role from the Star Wars live-action films. In the final season, the Ghost crew joins the growing Rebel Alliance, struggling to unite against the Galactic Empire. However, when a new Imperial threat arises on Lothal, Ezra leads the crew back to his home world to defeat the oppressive forces of the Empire under the command of cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn. Old friends are reunited and new alliances are forced as the series builds to its epic conclusion.

Star Wars Rebels is created by Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Academy Award nominee Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Emmy nominee Carrie Beck. The Lucasfilm Animation production is executive produced by Filoni and Kinberg, and co-executive produced by Emmy nominee Henry Gilroy.

The voice cast includes Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, David Oyelowo as Kallus, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera and Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Warwick Davis joins the cast this season as Rukh, Admiral Thrawn’s deadly assassin.

Sterling Archer will head to the danger zone conveniently located on Danger Island. The upcoming ninth season of the successful FXX series Archer has announced it will air on Wednesday, April 25th at 10pm ET/PT on FXX. The series is created by Adam Reed and Floyd County Productions and is executive produced by Reed and Matt Thompson. It is produced by FX Productions.

Archer: Danger Island centers on the semi-functioning alcoholic seaplane pilot, Sterling Archer, a lush on the lush South Pacific island of Mitimotu in 1939. While the rest of the world is concerned about the impending Second World War, Archer is only concerned with who’s buying his next drink. Along with his trusty co-pilot Pam, Sterling must navigate quicksand, cannibals, super-intelligent monkeys, poison darts, pirates, and did we mention quicksand? Welcome to the mysterious and deadly world of Archer: Danger Island.

The new season will feature the beloved voices of H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer, Jessica Walter as Archer’s acid-tongued mother and hotel owner, Malory, Aisha Tyler as island royalty and local revolutionary, Princess Lanaluakalani, Judy Greer as the abandoned heiress, Charlotte Vandertunt, Chris Parnell as the obvious German spy posing as a businessman, Siegbert Fuchs, Amber Nash as Archer’s co-pilot and loyal sidekick, Pam Poovey, Adam Reed as impeccably uniformed French Capitaine, Reynaud and Lucky Yates as the audacious scarlet macaw, Crackers.

Danger Island comes after the previous season Dreamland which saw Archer attempt to track down those responsible for the death of his partner in 1940s Los Angeles. Dreamland will debut on DVD on Tuesday, March 20th.

Westworld Characters Returning in Season 2 Confirmed

Westworld character returning in season 2 confirmed

The season one finale of HBO’s hit sci-fi series Westworld left viewers wondering who survived the bloodbath and which characters would be returning for the highly anticipated second season. Fans are finally getting a sneak peek into the fates of a handful of characters after showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy spoke with EW revealing who is back for the new episodes.

Nolan and Joy revealed that The Man in Black (Ed Harris) and William (Jimmi Simpson) will be returning. Harris teases that The Man in Black “gets a bit of damage done to him, that’s for sure.” The younger incarnation of the character, William, will be back in order for fans to explore the early days of the theme park and discover how William was able to gain so much influence over Delos Incorporated.

Programmer Elsie Hughes (Shannon Woodward) and security chief Ashley Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth) are both alive in season two, but the characters have found themselves in dangerous waters. Hughes vanished near the end of season one while Stubbs was captured by a tribe of Native American hosts after he went looking for her. Regarding their predicament, Joy says: “They’re finally getting to experience Westworld as guests and not in the managerial halls, but I’m not sure they’re enjoying their experience.”

Westworld’s corporate antagonist, Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) finds herself alive but at the “mercy of the hosts like everyone else,” Joy shared. “She is back and causes trouble. She went from this controlled person playing this chess game with Ford. He [took] out her king and queen in one fell swoop,” the showrunner added.

The park’s arrogant head writer, Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman) starts season two as Maeve’s (Thandie Newton) hostage. The actor explains that Sizemore has “found himself in the most uncomfortable position he can possibly be in. These hosts have always been props to his stories, and now it’s like he’s become a player in one of his own stories.”

Dolores’ (Evan Rachel Wood) father, Peter Abernathy (Louis Herthum) will reportedly become “an important asset” in season two. The character was last seen being brought out of cold storage as part of Hale’s scheme to smuggle data out of the park and was supposed to be placed on a train to leave.

Clementine Pennyfeather (Angela Sarafyan) will also return but little detail was shared regarding her character, though EW points out that the showrunners have previously noted that season one’s operation resulted in the previous version of Clementine being changed forever.

Last but not least, while Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) was killed by Dolores in the season one finale, a younger version of Dr. Ford will make appearances in the second season via flashbacks. The younger version character will, obviously, be played by another actor.

Based on the film written by best-selling author Michael Crichton (ER, Jurassic Park), Westword is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and a reimagined past, the series explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. It also provides a great philosophical argument on humanity, what it means to be human, and morality itself.

The first season of Westworld stars Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs), Golden Globe winner Ed Harris (The Truman Show), Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler) and Golden Globe nominee Thandie Newton (Crash). Also starring are Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Jimmi Simpsons, Clifton Collins, Jr., Luke Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Shannon Woodward and more.

Westworld season two will premiere on HBO on April 22.

Rashida Jones Will Pen 9 To 5 Reboot with Patricia Resnick

Rashida Jones will pen 9 To 5 reboot with original screenwriter Patricia Resnick

Deadline reports Rashida Jones is set to pen the script for an upcoming reboot of a 1980s classic. The actress will work alongside original screenwriter Patricia Resnick for a reboot of the 1980 farcical comedy 9 To 5. 20th Century Fox is in the early stages to develop this rebooted version that would “focus on three young women dealing with sexism and chauvinism in the workplace, who turn to the original trio for help in navigating and getting even with the course male higher-ups.”

Resnick and Jones are reportedly working together to find “a handle that can make the concept relevant to a young comedy audience.” The film will be produced by Shawn Levy, Resnick and Jonathan Baruch. Jones previously wrote the screenplay alongside Will McCormack for the 2012 romantic dramedy Celest & Jesse Forever. She also co-wrote the teleplay for the Black Mirror episode “Nosedive” alongside Michael Schur. She currently stars as Angie Tribeca in the titular TBS series and is best known for her portrayal of Ann Perkins in the comedy series Parks And Recreation. Her other film credits include I Love You Man, The Social Network and The Muppets.

Colin Higgins directed and co-wrote the original film with Resnick which starred the iconic trio of Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as three office workers who become fed up with their tyrannical and sexist boss as portrayed by Dabney Coleman. The veteran actresses are reportedly circling the new project which is fantastic news for fans of the original craving to witness the three talents working alongside each other once more.

The original 9 To 5 was a monstrous success at the box office, earning more than $103 million worldwide on a $10 million budget. A television spin-off series aired in the 1980s as well as a 2009 Broadway musical. Parton’s title song was also one of the biggest hit records of the decade and remains a mainstay at many karaoke bars.

A release date for the reboot has not been announced as of yet.

Thomas Cocquerel joins pilot for Get Christie Love

Deadline reports Thomas Cocquerel is set to star in the upcoming pilot for ABC’s Get Christie Love. The series is from Courtney Kemp, the creator/showrunner for the STARZ series Power and is inspired by the 1970s blaxploitation-themed TV movie and subsequent series. Vin Diesel, Debra Martin Chase and Shana C. Waterman will handle producing duties. Cocquerel will star opposite Kylie Bunbury who portrays lead Christie Love.

The outlet describes the project as “an action-packed, music-driven drama” and provides a brief description of the concept:

“[The series] centers on Christie Love, an African-American CIA agent who leads an elite ops unit. She transforms into whomever she needs to be to get the job done, especially when it’s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death. The high-adrenaline missions of the series are anchored by an emotional mystery about Christie’s first love — unearthing the truth about this relationship will be the biggest mission impossible of her life.

Cocquerel will play Adam, one of the youngest team members of Christie’s counterintelligence unit. He is the young “action movie hero” guy and described as “smooth and just a bit cocky.” He joins the previous announced cast consisting of Bunbury, Julia Kelly, and Camille Guaty.

The Australian actor will appear alongside Anna Kendrick in the dramedy Table 19 and will portray actor Errol Flynn in the upcoming biopic In Like Flynn.

Get Christie Love has no premiere date as of yet.

Netflix has revealed a new trailer and key art from The Mechanism, the latest Netflix original series produced in Brazil, which premieres Friday, March 23 on the streaming service. Check out the new The Mechanism trailer below, along with key art in the gallery!

From acclaimed director José Padilha (Narcos, Elite Squad 1 & 2, RoboCop) and prolific screenwriter Elena Soarez (Filhos do Carnaval, Eu tu Eles, Casa de Areia) comes The Mechanism, a thrilling, character-driven original series inspired by real events in Brazil. This fictionalized story explores how a small group of dogged investigators comes to discover the inner workings of a monstrous corruption scheme and the impact their pursuit has on everyone involved – including themselves.

The series stars Selton Mello (Ligações Perigosas, Meu Nome Não é Johnny, O Palhaço) as Marco Ruffo, a retired federal police deputy obsessed with the case at hand; Carol Abras (Avenida Brasil, Se nada mais der certo, Perto de qualquer lugar) as Verena Cardoni, Ruffo’s gutsy mentee; and Enrique Diaz (Justiça, Felizes para Sempre?) as Roberto Ibrahim, an outlaw who lies at the heart of Ruffo’s obsession. The cast also includes Lee Taylor (A pedra do reino; Velho chico, Riocorrente), Antonio Saboia (The wolf behind the door; Fora da lei), Jonathan Haagensen (City of God, Noel, poeta da vila), Alessandra Colasanti (A verdadeira história da bailarina de vermelho), Leonardo Medeiros (Cabra-cega, Onde quer que você esteja), Otto Jr. (Malhação, The Silver Cliff), Susana Ribeiro (O Dono do Mundo, Meu Bem Querer) and Osvaldo Mil (A Máquina, Preamar), among others.
