The upcoming project marks Reilly’s latest collaboration with director Robert Zemeckis, after previously working together in the Denzel Washington-led film Flight. She will next be seen in the upcoming fifth season of Yellowstone.

Set to take place from the past to the distant future, the story will center around a corner of a room and the many people who have inhabited it over the years. Richard McGuire originally published Here as a six-page coming strip in 1957. The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 6 Recap, Theories, and Thoughts

After a disappointing edition of Thursday Night Football, it’s time to turn our attention over to the latest episode of The Rings of Power. We’re on Episode 6 which means there are only two more episodes remaining in the kickoff season.

So far, the series has been a glorious mixed bag. Initially, I was on board with the slow-burn pace and enjoyed meeting new characters and exploring new places within Middle-earth. Then the last few hours hit and while ROP continues to hit some marvelous high notes — visually speaking — the plot and characters haven’t developed as well as I’d hoped.

There’s also the intriguing mystery box about Sauron’s true identity. Is Halbrand the big bad? Is the Stranger the evil eye in the sky? Does it really matter?

I was in the bath having an internal debate about this very plot point the other day and came to this weird realization: Sauron’s reveal will be underwhelming no matter who it turns out to be. I mean, if he’s the Stranger, we’ll be like “Ah, that makes sense.” If it’s Halbrand, we’ll be like, “Well, saw that one coming.” And if it’s an entirely new character, we’ll be like “Lazy writing.”

Sauron’s true identity will only shock us if he turns out to be someone completely out of the blue, like, say, Galadriel or the Queen Regent — and that ain’t happening.

The point is that mystery boxes are difficult to pull off. Sure, they draw our attention on a weekly basis, but they rarely stick the landing in a satisfying way (see the new Star Wars trilogy or practically anything J.J. Abrams has ever done). Especially when it takes eight hours (or more) of our time.

Anyway, let’s start this episode and hope for the best!

What Happened in The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 6

We open with Adar doing his best Maximus Decimus Meridius impersonation, sliding his fingers solemnly through dirt before the battle. He stands before a massive Orc army, gives a rousing speech, a couple of Namapt! chants and heads to the Ostirith watchtower where Arondir, Bronwyn, Theo, and a ragtag collection of worthless Southlanders await. Very Helm’s Deep of them.

Except, when the army arrives, they walk through the door and find … nothing. No humans. No Elves. That’s because Arondir is hiding in a crevice high above the Orcs, waiting to spring a trap. Our Elf warrior waits for the right moment — which just happens to be around the time Adar happens upon the Sauron mural — and leaps into action. He shoots a half-dozen Orcs and then uses a flaming arrow to pierce a device attached to the actual watchtower. Then he locks the gates and skedaddles as the structure falls and presumably kills the Orcs — and Waldreg — or at least traps them for a spell.

The Southlanders, including Bronwyn, watch the sequence of events from the safety of their cozy village a few clicks down the road. She is suddenly the de facto leader of this clan and instructs everyone to calm the f**k down and get to work. They must Home Alone their town if they want to stay alive.

We cut to the Númenórean ships and find Isildur happily performing stable duties. In fact, he just seems happy to be anywhere but Númenór. Who wouldn’t? That town was a slog. He heads outside and bumps into Galadriel, who apparently plans to stay in her armor throughout the entire voyage. “You have the look of your father,” she says to the young man during a casual conversation.

Isildur scoffs. “I was always told I look like my mom.”

“Listen you little sh—,” Galadriel starts before the sun rises and snags their attention. Isildur looks like he just found the prize at the bottom of the Lucky Charms box. Has he never seen the sun, or am I missing something?

Elendil arrives and kills the magic and tells the boy to get back to work.

“His mother, what was she like,” Galadriel asks, clearly interested in this topic.

Elendil rattles off a long poem or something before dropping this bomb: “She drowned.” Thanks for bringing that up. Galadriel sucks at small talk.

Later (unless there are two Elendils), Elendil gives the Queen Regent an update on the journey. “We’re still a few days away,” he says. “So, you don’t have to stay in your Queen attire or remain locked in your room, you know?”

“Tell the other ships to hurry up,” she snaps back.

“Were we not already going at top speed?”

Back in the Southlands, Arondir tries valiantly to break Sauron’s blade. “I got nothing,” he says before tucking it away. He plans to hide it from everyone, even Bronwyn.

Later, there’s one of those Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves montages where a meager army prepares for battle against a greater foe. They fortify the town, listen to some rousing Arondir and Bronwyn speeches and then … go back to fortifying the town.

Arondir and Bronwyn take a moment to do some heavy Elf-on-human flirting, which involves touching trees. The Elf promises to take Bronwyn away should they win this battle, which is probably not a good sign. (As a side: I know the Orcs hate the sun and all, but what if they just decided, F**k it, we’re attacking now! and destroyed the Southlands before the people had time to set their traps?)

Later that night, we get a repeat of the previous battle. The Orcs wander into town, find no one, and are ambushed. Except, this time, Arondir shoots his arrows from atop a house and Bronwyn uses flaming wagons to knock out a few of the snarling beasts. We do see Arondir engage in combat with a Terminator-like Orc who tosses him around like a rag doll. There’s a brutal ass moment when Arondir pulls a blade from the Orc’s eye and leaves a gaping wound that sprays dark blood all over his face. Gawd. Luckily, Bronwyn saves him from certain death … battle over, right?

Wrong! See, all the bad guys were just the men from the Southlands who joined the Orc army. “They had to pay the toll,” a dying Orc says. Eesh.

Growls cut through the darkness, followed by arrows. Bronwyn takes one in the chest. As does the cow guy from Episode 1. Arondir grabs his lady and carries her inside the pub. Luckily, the Orcs run in slow motion, so there’s plenty of time for our heroes to set up shop.

In fact, there’s time for Theo and Arondir to remove the arrow from Bronwyn as the remaining townsfolk watch and grimace. You’d think now would be the perfect time for the Orcs to attack … nah. Theo cauterizes his mum’s wounds and somehow this heals her completely.

Outside, the Orcs finally reach the front door. (Not to worry, Galadriel’s army is en route … we see them riding in broad daylight, though, which means they’re probably on the other side of the world.) Adar’s boys quickly subdue the townsfolk and proceed to stab the holy shit out of everyone in search of Sauron’s blade. Arondir and Theo stand their ground. More people are stabbed. Our heroes stay firm. Adar threatens Theo’s mom. Theo immediately pulls the blade out of the floor. “It’s right here.” (The dead townsfolk are like WTF?)

Finally, Adar gets Sauron’s sword. Before his group can do some wild Orc celebrating, Galadriel’s army somehow arrives in the nick of time. Also, it’s morning outside … I’m so confused.

The ensuing battle is brutal as hell. Our Elf gal does some nifty horse stunts and slices through Orcs like they were Battle Droids. Halbrand decapitates everything in sight. Isildur stabs a few dozen Orcs. Everyone saves everyone. Eventually, Adar hops on a horse and takes off. Galadriel takes off after Adar. Halbrand takes off after Galadriel. (All of this looks quite amazing, by the way.)

Somehow, Halbrand gets ahead of Adar, then uses a spear to trip the poor guy’s horse. The evil Elf falls to the ground. Halbrand grabs a spear and is about to cut him through — “You remember me?” he asks all cryptic-like.

“No?” Adar says.

Galadriel stops Halbrand mid-thrust. “One cannot satisfy thirst by drinking seawater,” she says. (But the sea is always right, right?)

Nearby, Isildur commends his pals on a job well done. “Wicked cool,” our young man says, high-fiving Valandil. “War is awesome.” Ontamo, on the other hand, thinks war sucks. “I’ve seen enough war to last me a lifetime.” Bruh, you were in a five-minute skirmish. Not exactly the kind of battle they write songs about, you know?

Inside a barn, Galadriel confronts Adar. “When I was young, I heard about Elves who were taken by Morgoth,” she says as he mopes next to a post. “You are one of them, are you not? A Son of the Dark?”

“Uruk,” he says. “We prefer Uruk.”

“Where’s Sauron,” she asks pointedly.

He scoffs, then dives into a tale. Apparently, after Morgoth’s defeat, Sauron decided to heal Middle-earth using supernatural powers. He head North with as many followers as he could muster, but something prevented him from achieving his goal — a shadow of dark knowledge the Dark Lord could never attain.

“He took my kids,” Adar says, referring to the Orcs. “So I split him open. I killed Sauron.”

Galadriel rolls her eyes, “Sure.”

Adar apparently just wants a home for his kids, all of whom have a beating heart, a name, and a right to a happy life. Oh no, they’re going to do to the Orcs what Disney did to the Sand People! I like Orcs more when they’re simple-minded rage animals, not actual characters capable of feeling. I mean, if they were actual beings with kids and families, capable of compassion — does that make Legolas a mass murderer?

“Your kind was a mistake made in mockery,” Galadriel says, clearly annoyed by the evil Elf’s smugness. “The scourge of your kind ends with you.”

“I see I’m not the only Elf alive who has been transformed by darkness,” he retorts.

She lunges with a knife but is stopped mid-thrust by Halbrand. “Seawater and shit,” he says. (At this point, I assume Halbrand is indeed Sauron; or, at least, the show wants us to think he’s Sauron. He is acting mighty strange. His interaction with Adar was quite telling. Maybe the pair had a fight that left Sauron broken and powerless, and completely unrecognizable?)

Moments later, Galadriel and Halbrand exchange pleasantries. Basically, they were both turned on by the other during battle. Before they can dig deeper, as it were, a rider arrives and orders them to return to the Queen to provide an update.

Nearby, Bronwyn (who magically recovered from ghastly wounds sustained mere hours earlier) speaks with the Queen Regent, who commends her for her bravery and leadership. “Yeah, this shit is tough,” Bronwyn agrees.

“Well, I got someone who can help you,” the Queen replies, nodding to Halbrand.

Bronwyn sees the beleaguered warrior, and eyes the symbol on his necklace. “Are you the King who was promised,” she asks. Everyone holds their breath. Halbrand eyes Galadriel who gives him a “You better not screw this up” look.

“I am,” he says. Nah, he’s gotta be Sauron.

All 20 Southlanders toast their new ruler. “That was really easy,” everyone says. Presumably, the series could end here. The good guys won, and the Southlanders have their King. It was a slow and often painful ride, but the final battle was cool and our heroes are happy. So, let’s call it a da—

Galadriel gives Sauron’s blade (confiscated from Adar) back to Arondir. The Elf then heads off to speak with Theo. The young man reveals that he felt immense strength with the sword in his hands, and felt its absence … kind of like a certain ring thing …

“Then let us be rid of it,” Arondir says, “once and for all!”

“How?”

“Give it to Númenor.” Arondir hands the blade (wrapped in a cloth) to Theo. The young man quickly unwraps the weapon and — gasp! It’s gone.

We cut to the watchtower where Waldreg uses the blade to quite literally open the floodgates.

Water spills through the tunnels created by Adar’s army. Geysers erupt. The ground shakes. Galadriel and Co. can only watch as the liquid rushes to a lonely mountain nearby and stokes the lava inside, producing a massive volcanic eruption that proceeds to destroy everything in sight. As everyone rushes for cover, Galadriel steps in front of a wall of ash and shuts her eyes.

Shit, this is gonna hurt, she thinks.

End.

Final Thoughts on The Rings of Power Season 1 Episode 6

So, after five hours of buildup, we finally got our first taste of Rings of Power action. Honestly, I was impressed. Visually, the relatively small battle looked great and was well staged, shot, and executed. Cool stunts, slick Elf action, and a lot of Orc brutality. Classic LOTR.

Obviously, this was just a tease of the larger war to come, but it got me excited. I mean, if the showrunners nail the epic battlefront, then I’ll happily wander through the forests of Middle-earth for three or four hours to arrive at the larger-than-life moments.

After this episode, I’m convinced more than ever that Halbrand is indeed Sauron. He clearly lost his power somehow and felt scorned by the likes of Adar and his “people.” I imagine he’s eyeballing Galadriel in the hopes she will join him in his latest venture to rule the world. Maybe he even sees himself as a good guy trying to do what he believes is right for Middle-earth. I don’t know.

So, who is the Stranger? How do Mithril, Elrond, and Celebrimbor fit into all of this? Will we ever see the titular Rings of Power? I guess will find out next week.

Bruce Willis Sells Image Rights to AI Company for Future TV & Film Roles

Legendary actor Bruce Willis has reportedly become the first Hollywood star to sell his image rights to a technology company that specializes in using artificial intelligence, according to The Telegraph.

Willis’ partnership with Deepcake allows for to create “digital twins” of the actor, and to use his face and likeness in future projects without Willis having to appear on set or be involved in any of the production aspects.

For Willis, this isn’t the first time that the star has collaborated on a deepfake project, as he and Deepcake worked together previously for a Russian phone advertisement for MegaFon last year. In a statement found on Deepcake’s website, Willis thanked the team behind the technology, and praised how the phone commercial came out at the time.

“I liked the precision with which my character turned out,” said Willis. “It’s a mini-movie in my usual action-comedy genre. For me, it is a great opportunity to go back in time. With the advent of modern technology, even when I was on another continent, I was able to communicate, work, and participate in the filming. It’s a very new and interesting experience, and I thank our entire team.”

The move comes just months following Willis’ retirement from the world of acting, after the actor had been diagnosed with aphasia, which is a language disorder that affects someone’s ability to communicate. Should the move turn out to result in more films for Willis, it will allow his likeness to continue to appear in roles while his real-life self might not be able to.

Hocus Pocus 2 Review: The Sanderson Sisters Shine in OK Sequel

After 29 years, the Sanderson Sisters are back. Hocus Pocus 2, which releases on Disney+ September 30, sees the return of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones to the franchise, along with some new faces including Whitney Peak and Tony Hale, as well as Anne Fletcher taking on directing duties.

I have to preface this review because it seems like Hocus Pocus is universally accepted as a beloved classic everyone under the age of 30 grew up watching and loving, but that’s not the case for me. I watched it for the first time last year and — for the most part — could take or leave it. So while it’s hard for me to make any bold claims as to whether this movie will please fans of the original, I’m going to guess that it probably will because it’s basically more of the same.

Similarly to the first movie, a teenage virgin (thankfully, the sequel doesn’t have an awkward fixation on the second characteristic that felt uncomfortably out of place for a kids’ movie in the 1993 film) lights a special candle which brings about the return of the Sanderson Sisters, three witches set to take revenge on the town of Salem after being banished from the community a few centuries prior. Once again, the kids have to save the day and their town from the wrath of the notorious trio, who are just as bombastic as they were 29 years ago.

The highlight is, of course, seeing Midler, Parker, and Najimy back together. While the main focus, including in a flashback to the witches’ youth at the beginning of the film, is on Midler’s Winifred, Nijimy’s Mary has a lot of the best moments and gets more chances to shine than she did in the first. Sadly, Parker’s Sarah, who was arguably the stand-out of the original, doesn’t get as much to do in this one. Bits of her famous song, “Come Little Children”, can be heard in the background every once and a while, but she doesn’t get a real “moment” this time around.

Speaking of which, one element of Hocus Pocus 2 that definitely pales in comparison to its predecessor is the music. There are two songs, an original and a cover of a classic rock number from the late 70’s. Both are sung by the witches but don’t capture the magic like “I Put a Spell on You” and the aforementioned “Come Little Children” did back in 1993 (though one is clearly meant to be the modern equivalent of the former). Seeing as those two songs were the best moments of Hocus Pocus, the void is definitely felt here.

As for the newcomers, they’re all serviceable in their roles. The strongest of the lot are Sam Richardson as shopkeeper Gilbert and Tony Hale as Salem’s mayor and father to one of the three teenage girls working to take down the Sandersons. Both characters bring a freshness to the franchise; since adults beyond the Sandersons themselves weren’t much of a presence in the original, it’s nice to see how they respond to the stories of magic happening in the town, and later interact with the witches themselves. The story is set 29 years after the first, so seeing how Salem has changed over time and how the kids of 1993 have now grown up is fun to witness.

Having three teen girls go up against the magical trio creates a nice parallel between good and evil in this movie and creates a different dynamic on the hero side from the original band of a teenage boy working alongside his younger sister and love interest. Perhaps Disney is trying to set up a spin-off or legacy sequel with these three heroines as the focal point, though seeing as they are totally eclipsed by the Midler/Parker/Najimy trio here, it might not be worth pursuing further.

This film is sure to be a hit on Disney+, but it’s somewhat puzzling as to why Disney didn’t opt for a theatrical run for Hocus Pocus 2. While it is true that the first Hocus Pocus did not do well theatrically back in 1993, it has since grown in popularity and is now considered a Halloween classic. (There’s also the fact that it debuted in July rather than autumn to keep in mind.) While I don’t personally have a lot of nostalgia attached to the original, reactions from a lot of people who do indicate that this sequel does a much better job at scratching that itch than, say, most of Disney’s recent live-action remakes, many of which have seen success on the big screen.

If you like the original, you’ll like Hocus Pocus 2. As someone who had a run-of-the-mill experience with the first (apart from the two musical sequences), I wasn’t overly elated or disappointed with this one. The Sanderson Sisters are great once again, but the movie surrounding them isn’t anything special. It will most likely please kids looking for some spooky vibes as the Halloween season arrives (and I would say this one is a bit less scary for young ones than the first might have been) which is probably what Disney was hoping for.

SCORE: 6/10

As ComingSoon’s review policy explains, a score of 6 equates to “Decent.” It fails to reach its full potential and is a run-of-the-mill experience.

Andor Season 1 Episode 4 Recap, Theories, and Thoughts

Star Wars has made me care about it again! After the disappointment of The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, I was about ready to leave that galaxy far, far away in my review mirror. Alas, because I’m a simpleton and easy to please, all it took was three solid Andor episodes to bring me back to the fold. Is this the very definition of insanity — doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?

At any rate, I can’t wait to dive into Episode 4 of Tony Gilroy’s Andor, this one titled “Aldhani,” and see what adventures our dramatic hero gets into next. Let’s do this!

What Happened in Andor Season 1 Episode 4

Our boys Cassian and Luthen Rael chill on a spaceship. As the former mends his wounded arm, the latter launches the craft into hyperspace. Luthen then makes his pitch: “I want you to do something truly special,” he says. “To put a real stick in the eye of the Empire … and get paid for it.”

Cassian rolls his eyes. “I wondered who you were — Alliance, Sep, guerrilla, Partisan Front.” They’re all the same.

“Better to spit in their food and run,” Luthen asks patiently.

Cassian explains that he fought before in Mimban (which, Wookiepeedia notes, occurred during the Clone Wars) and was all in on the battle until he realized “we were fighting ourselves.” He was one of 50 who survived.

“You were on the ground in Mimban for six months. You arrived as a cook and only survived because you ran,” Luthen states. Cassian is right about one thing: the Empire had the armies fighting each other. “Wouldn’t you rather give it all at once for something real than carve off useless pieces till there’s nothing left?” Then, the bomb: “I didn’t risk my ass for the Starpath unit. I came for you.”

There’s a reasonable amount of strong language in this show. I love it.

Luthen then gives Cassian his mission, should he choose to accept it: steal the quarterly payroll for an entire Imperial sector. Do it and survive and he will give the boy 200,000 credits.

We cut to Denise Gough’s Dedra Meero walking to the Imperial Security Bureau (located on Coruscant, I believe) where she happens on a Small Council presided by Celebrimbor — the one who will forge the One Ring! Ah, never mind, this is Partagaz, played by that one creepy guy from Game of Thrones. Stop with the crossovers.

During the meeting, we learn that the ISB functions as a “healthcare provider” in that it searches for a “disease” and “finds a solution.” Get it? Attention turns to the events of Ferrix, which draws interest from Dedra. (We also learn that Dedar knows the ISB manual by heart and is shocked when her by-the-book response to a question is quickly shot down.)

We cut to Aldhani, where our boys land, shave and come up with new names: Cassian will be Clem for the next five days. Luthen gives Cassian a downpayment: a Kuati Signet. Blue cyber. Sky stone. The ancient world. “Don’t take less than 50,000 for it … I want it back when this is over.”

A woman approaches the ship. Faye Marsay’s Vel Sartha. She’s none-too-happy to learn that Cassian is joining their mission. (Of note: we learn that Luthen plans to pay Vel 200,000 as well. He either really likes that number or is lying. Anyway, he convinces her to include Cassian because, well, he’s disposable. I love how these scenes aren’t punctuated with a goofy joke or snarky remark. At one point, Luthen actually yells at Vel, which helps us understand how important this mission is. Good stuff.

Back with Preox-Morlana, we see Syril, Chief Hyne, and Linus Mosk being reprimanded for their actions in the previous episode. The Ferrix Incident left the Morgana system under permanent Imperial authority. We see the wheels turning in Syril’s head. How does he come back from this? There’s a great beat later on where he wanders — alone — to his mother’s apartment. She gasps, slaps him, and then hugs him. Nuts.

Back on Aldhani, Cassian wanders through green mountains with Vel. She reveals the mission, should Cassian choose to accept it: they are attacking a local armory guarded by an Imperial garrison. Wtf, Cassian shouts. “I signed up to steal a payroll!” She also orders Cassian not to mention Luthen and to state that his joining the team was part of the plan all along. What is happening?

A pair of tie fighters interrupt the discussion. Badass.

Dedra’s interest in the whole Ferrix incident boils down to the missing sealed Imperial NS-9 Starpath unit. “That is our box from Steergard,” she says. “That gives us jurisdiction. We’re on the case.” A fellow IMP lieutenant, Blevin, refuses to grant her clearance to the incident as it occurred in his sector; he also believes she just wants the assignment to ascend the ladder, but Dedra is committed. She takes her plea to Partagaz. Later, the trio discusses the situation. Dedra thinks the theft of the Starpath represents evidence of a growing rebellion against the Empire. Partagaz states that they need more clear evidence and tells her to stay in her lane. Yeah, that ain’t gonna happen.

Back on Luthen’s ship, our mysterious mercenary throws on a disguise and casually prepares for the next step in his master plan. (Or maybe this was just Stellan being Stellan unaware cameras were rolling.)

On Aldhani, we meet Vel’s crew: Skeen, Taramyn, Nemik, and Cinta, who name drop Saw Gerrera … which means we might get more Bor Gullet! Everyone is on edge about this mission. Cassian’s appearance only makes matters worse. He later meets Lieutenant Gorn, the contact at the garrison, who doesn’t like the new face added to the unit at the last second. He’s eager to get started, but you can tell this group is not exactly well versed in the art of war. They know the stakes. (The conversations in this show crackle with energy.)

Back on Coruscant, Luthen prepares for a visit from Senator Mon Mothma (a random side character from Return of the Jedi who continues to gain more significance via these spin-offs). His disguise is much more, ah, flamboyant than his typical demeanor. Apparently, he masquerades as a lavish shop owner who sells rare merchandise. And since Mon Mothma has a new driver, Luthen has to take the Senator into the back before he can switch to his normal persona. “If you can’t deliver I need to know.”

“I can’t pull funds the way I used to,” she says. Apparently, all eyes are on her. “I found someone who I think can help me.”

Hmm. Hopefully, it’s not Jimmy Smits again, because that dude dropped the ball big time in Obi-Wan.

Mon Mothma heads back to her apartment where she learns her assistant Perrin set up a dinner with the governor of Hanna, Ars Dangor, Sly Moore … all from the Vizier’s private chamber. “Shit,” she says. “I hate all of these people, and they hate me! They cut off shipping lanes that will leave people starving!”

Too late to cancel.

On Aldhani, Vel offers more details on the mission, which sounds like a suicide run to Cassian. They expect him to fly them out of there using nothing but a Rono (!), but the tie fighters have him spooked. “They’ll be on you in minutes!”

Here’s the kicker: once every three years, the Aldhanis gather in a valley to celebrate a celestial event they call Mak-ani bray Dhani. The Eye of Aldhani, which is the equivalent of a giant meteor shower. Thousands come for the event. It’s absolute chaos and the perfect cover for an escape.

“Let’s get to it,” Cassian states, knowing he probably doesn’t have a choice.

Later, the group chats beside a campfire. Cassian is presented with a detailed map of the garrison and an Aldhani phrase book, both of which he needs to memorize by morning. This isn’t going to be easy, especially for someone who just wants to eat some food.

End.

Andor Episode 4 Final Thoughts

I was remarking to a co-worker that there is an art to television storytelling. Done right, you get Breaking Bad. Done poorly and you get something along the lines of, well, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. TV shows span hours upon hours over years … showrunners must steadily feed their audience enough information to keep them invested without completely blowing their wad in the first five or six episodes. Characters must be compelling, with clear-cut motivations and personalities, albeit not in a manner that outshines the main protagonist. Action sequences must be concise without giving away the relatively meager budget afforded by most television productions. Multiple storylines are required, and each needs to be unique enough to hold our attention.

Yeah, it’s hard.

And yet, when placed in capable hands, a miracle like Andor comes along. While we’re only four episodes in, the storytelling, characters, dialogue, and overall production values easily outshine anything we’ve seen from Disney Star Wars thus far — even The Mandalorian, which is saying something.

I love the pacing and rhythm of conversations, which feel natural and are more reliant on sharp writing than punchy one-liners. And look, I’m all for jokes and lighthearted adventure, but I also like variety. In this day and age, nearly everything created in Hollywood feels like it was pulled from the same assembly line, which only makes productions like The Batman, Dune, Better Call Saul, Top Gun: Maverick, and Midnight Mass that much richer.

At this point, I’d add Andor to the batch of recent films/shows that have gone the extra mile to ensure top-quality entertainment. Yes, it’s still early, but it’s not like the show is suddenly going to change … maybe it doesn’t stick the landing … maybe later episodes aren’t as compelling … Such outcomes are possible, but not likely considering the amount of love and care that seems to go into every scene, shot and bit of dialogue. This is really great stuff.

The pair enthusiastically tease Logan’s part in the highly-anticipated third installment, while clarifying that they won’t be touching on the events that happened in James Mangold’s 2017 film Logan. The only catch is fans can’t hear what they’re saying as Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” plays loudly in the background. Reynolds and Jackman also end the video by thanking Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain as an R-rated film just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with the said mature rating.

It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series that will be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. It is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 6, 2024.

Werewolf By Night Director Thought It’d Be Marvel’s First TV-MA Project

The upcoming Marvel Studios Disney+ special Werewolf By Night will be one of the scariest and bloodiest stories in the MCU to date, but will still retain a TV-14 rating, something director Michael Giacchino didn’t expect when he first joined the project.

RELATED: Marvel’s Werewolf By Night Gets Trailer, Release Date

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on his upcoming special, Giacchino — who is also one of the more prolific composers in Hollywood today — said that the team behind the special had always thought that the event would receive a TV-MA rating, but the fact that the special is filmed in black and white might have helped them.

“We had always assumed it would be TV-MA, but I wasn’t always involved with what was happening on that end in terms of ratings and all of that,” Giacchnio said. “But I am sure you are absolutely right that the black and white did help keep us within a certain range.”

Werewolf by Night is a name that was used by two different Marvel characters. The first one, which was created by Gerry Conway, Mike Ploog, Roy Thomas, and Jeanie Thomas, was Jack Russell, who is a descendant of the Lycanthropes — shapeshifting half-human creatures who are capable of transforming at his own will, even without a full moon.

Meanwhile, the second one was Jake Gomez, a Native American whose tribe had been cursed with lycanthropy. The character of Gomez was created by Taboo, Benjamin Jackendoff, and Scot Eaton. Jack Russell has been confirmed to be the main character in the Disney+ special.

The upcoming Disney+ special is set to release on October 7, 2022.

Director Bassam Tariq Departs Blade, Marvel Issues Statement

Blade no longer has a director as Bassam Tariq has departed the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

No replacement director for Blade has been announced just yet. Currently, the film has a release date of November 3, 2023. It’s not known if the departure of Tariq will impact the production of the film starring Mahershala Ali or when it is released.

“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film,” Marvel said in a statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter. “We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”

Tariq also issued a statement saying that it’s been an honor to work with Marvel and that they “were able to put together a killer cast and crew.” As a result, Tariq is “eager to see where the next director takes the film.”

This is the second time that the iconic character has appeared in live-action films as the Blade trilogy from New Line Cinema helped shepherd comic books and superheroes to the big screen. Combined, the three films brought in over $400 million at the global box office. Blade was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan as a supporting character in the comic book The Tomb of Dracula #10 in July 1973.

Man of Medan and Little Hope PS5 & XSX|S Upgrades Out Now Despite No Official Announcement

Many games are still getting current-gen upgrades, but not many of them come unannounced. Bandai Namco opted to go down that sneakier route as it just quietly released PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades for Man of Medan and Little Hope, its first two entries in The Dark Pictures Anthology. Both are free for owners of the last-gen versions.

Man of Medan and Little Hope PS5 & XSX|S Upgrades Out Now Despite No Official Announcement

As noted by PlayStation Game Size, both titles suddenly dropped on the PlayStation Store. The listing notes that they support difficulty settings, quick-time event warnings, a better user interface, faster walking speeds, stronger accessibility options, and more, meaning they are slightly more than simple ports. Man of Medan‘s “Flooded” chapter has now been extended and has some new deaths in it. However, it doesn’t appear as though Little Hope has any new content.

PS4 saves will transfer to the PS5 version, but previously earned trophies do not automatically unlock, as was the case in House of Ashes when that feature was eventually added. Collectibles also do not transfer. Xbox’s Smart Delivery means that those ports likely won’t have such issues.

RELATED: How Supermassive Games Is Repeating Telltale’s Mistakes

House of Ashes was the first entry to be on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and The Devil in Me, the installment releasing on November 18, will also be coming out both generations of hardware. Since they are all part of the same series, it seemed likely that Supermassive Games would go back and update the first two titles with features implemented in later entries.

Even though they came with no announcement, their release isn’t exactly a surprise. PlayStation Game Size revealed Little Hope‘s existence earlier in September. Exophase, a site that tracks trophies and achievements, also posted their trophy lists earlier before they went live.

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 25 Recap

A month earlier, Hawks was close to figuring out everything needed for his mission. Elsewhere, Shigaraki and Dr. Ujiko talk. Ujiko notes how Shigaraki’s Quirk developed. He explains how his research was supposed to be for All for One. However, the development of Quirks became more complex. He begins performing an experiment on Shigaraki that will give him more power and even One for All. Going back to the present, Class 1-A exhibits their new skills and developments from their work-study placements. During Midoriya’s turn, All Might briefly reminisce on his early days with him.

While Eraser Head and Present Mic are resting, Amajiki and Togata warn them about Eri. Eri’s horn is bothering her again, so Eraser Head calms her down. Meanwhile, All Might meets up with Midoriya and Bakugo. He hands Midoriya a notebook containing all the information he could gather regarding the previous successors of One for All. There isn’t much information, and Bakugo noticed that the previous successors weren’t well-known. All Might tells Midoriya he’s going to learn Float next.

After their meeting, Midoriya and Bakugo return to the dorms. The class is having a party to celebrate the work-study exchange and the start of the term. During the party, they talk about how time flies and how they’ll be second-year students soon. Midoriya reflects on how thankful and blessed he is. Meanwhile, All Might shares how powerless he feels to Eraser Head. Eraser Head comforts him, assuring All Might is helpful to the students. Months later, the fight with the Paranormal Liberation Front begins.

Gotham Knights PC Trailer Reveals Advanced Platform Specs

Since the last-gen versions were outright canceled (and not delayed like other games), Gotham Knights will be one of the few titles that’s only on the current generation of hardware. And while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S details are currently under wraps, WB Games Montréal recently released a PC-centric trailer noting some of the higher-end features that that platform will have.

The PC port will support 4K resolution, high frame rates, ray-traced reflections, ultrawide and multi-monitor support, Nvidia DLSS 2, AMD FSR 2, and Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS), the latter three of which can help boost frame rate or visual quality. There will also be more customization options like a field of view slider, ambient occlusion settings, the ability to set a dynamic resolution, and more, which were only briefly shown in the video. The trailer itself was captured on PC, too.
