Tom Hardy stars in the upcoming feature film as Eddie Brock, the host for Venom. Joining him in the film are Michelle Williams (The Greatest Showman), Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Jenny Slate (Zootopia) and Woody Harrelson (the Hunger Games franchise, True Detective).

Venom will hail from Sony’s Marvel Universe of characters and will not be a spinoff of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, wherein Sony allows Spider-Man to be played by Tom Holland. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing along with Amy Pascal, with Palak Patel and Eric Fineman overseeing for Columbia Pictures.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) and written by Scott Rosenberg (Pain & Gain, Jumanji) & Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), the Venom film is set for an October 5, 2018 release date.

First appearing in the comic book series as an alien costume worn by Spider-Man in Marvel‘s The Amazing Spider-Man #252 in 1984, it was several years before the creature left Peter Parker and merged with photographer Eddie Brock, forming the antihero known as Venom. Since then, the character has appeared in a variety of different forms and bonded with several different hosts. In the “Ultimate” Marvel Universe, the suit has a more terrestrial origin, created by Parker and Brock’s scientist parents in an attempt to cure cancer. More recently, the Venom symbiote has been moving between hosts, including Mac Gargan (aka The Scorpion) and Peter Parker’s old high school rival, Flash Thompson.

Suspiria Remake Will Run An Hour Longer Than Original

Suspiria remake will run an hour longer than original

The time is coming for Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake and after bloody posters and disturbing teasers, it was announced on Twitter that the film will run 152 minutes long, exactly one hour longer than the original film’s 92-minute runtime.

The longer runtime does arouse a lot of curiosity as to Guadagnino’s expansions on the original, with many potential for reasons as to why. For starters, based on the teasers, Guadagnino will feature dance sequences and given their equally sensual and haunting nature, it’s not hard to believe the 46-year-old Italian director would want to take his time with developing the atmosphere and extend these scenes. There’s also his love for elongated close-ups and slow-pans that will not only help develop a more terrifying mood for the film and that might help the movie run longer.

In the film, a darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe’s artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino steps behind the camera for the remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 classic which features a script by David Kajganich (A Bigger Splash, The Terror). Suspiria stars Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Doctor Strange), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, How To Be Single), Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, The 5th Wave), Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness, Everest) and Jessica Harper of the original Suspiria.

It had been previously reported that actress Tilda Swinton plays two roles in the film, taking on the role of “real life German psychoanalyst” Lutz Ebersdorf who will “make his feature debut” in the film, but Guadagnino confirmed to Yahoo back in February that he will be portrayed by the real Ebersdorf. The score will be composed by legendary singer/songwriter Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

Suspiria will officially debut in theaters on November 2.

Jack Reynor, Will Poulter to Star in New Ari Aster Horror Project

Jack Reynor, Will Poulter to star in new Ari Aster horror project

Collider is reporting that Jack Reynor (Glassland, Strange Angel, On the Basis of Sex) and Will Poulter (Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Detroit, The Revenant) will be starring alongside Florence Pugh (The Falling, The Little Drummer Girl) in Ari Aster’s (Hereditary) new untitled horror movie.

According to the outlet, Pugh and Reynor are set to play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

The additional ensemble cast includes Vilhelm Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia, and Archie Madekwe. The horror film will serve as Aster’s second feature after he wrote and directed his directorial debut Hereditary, starring Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, and Gabriel Byrne. Hereditary earned $70 million worldwide from a $10 million budget, becoming the highest-grossing movie for studio A24.

 

Reynor can currently be seen on the small screen as Jack Parsons in the television series Strange Angel for CBS All Access. His upcoming projects include the sci-fi movie Kin starring alongside James Franco and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg docudrama On the Basis of Sex co-starring Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer.

Poulter is best known for his work in The Maze Runner trilogy, the comedy We’re the Millers, starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, and the historical drama Detroit. Poulter will next be seen in the horror drama The Little Stranger alongside Josh Dylan, Domhnall Gleeson, and Ruth Wilson, premiering in theaters on August 31, 2018.

New Wonder Woman 1984 first look at Pedro Pascal’s character

Director Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Monster) has revealed a new photo from Wonder Woman 1984 highlighting Pedro Pascal’s character in the highly anticipated sequel. While no details have yet been revealed about who Pascal will be playing, his character definitely fits in with the ’80s theme. Check out the photo now in the gallery below!

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah. As previously announced, the film stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor. Natasha Rothwell was recently cast in an unknown role in the project.

Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Stephen Jones and Gal Gadot are producing the film. Rebecca Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada are the executive producers.

Joining her behind the scenes are several members of Jenkins’ Wonder Woman team, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (Amélie), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (Topsy-Turvy). Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (United 93) will cut the film.

Production will take place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands.

Set to open in theaters November 1, 2019, Wonder Woman 1984 is based on the character created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights is turning upside down with a first look reveal of the Stranger Things maze key art designed exclusively by Kyle Lambert, the official illustrator of the mega-hit Netflix original series. Check out the key art now in the gallery below!

Featuring the series’ cast standing adjacent to the predatory Demogorgon, the ominous picture depicts a nearly palpable account of what guests can expect to experience when the Stranger Things maze debuts as part of Halloween Horror Nights this fall.

Inspired by season one of the hit Netflix series, the Stranger Things maze will come to life at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort beginning Friday, September 14 and at Universal Studios Singapore beginning Thursday, September 27, 2018. The parallel universe, known as the Upside Down, that terrorized the small town of Hawkins, Indiana will bring the chittering, predatory Demogorgon for Halloween Horror Nights to stalk unwitting guests as they encounter iconic scenes, characters, and environments from the mesmerizing series.

Working collaboratively with Netflix, along with the creators and executive producer of the blockbuster series Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer, and Shawn Levy, the mazes will be authentic representations of Stranger Things, designed to transport guests into artfully recreated scenes and storylines. From the menacing Hawkins National Laboratory, under the U.S. Department of Energy, to the Byers home adorned with an erratic display of flashing Christmas lights and the eerie Upside Down woods oozing a shower of floating orb-like spores, the chilling new mazes will offer surprising twists and unexpected turns around every corner.

Euphoria: HBO orders high school drama starring Zendaya to series

HBO has officially picked up high school drama Euphoria for a full series order with Canadian rapper Drake and his manager Future the Prince executive producing, according to Variety.

The series, which is based on an Israeli series of the same name, will follow a group of high school students as they struggle to move through the worlds of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship. It features an ensemble cast that includes Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming) in the lead role of Rue. Also starring in the series are Maude Apatow (This is 40), Brian “Astro” Bradley (Red Band Society), Eric Dane (The Last Ship), Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time) and Sydney Sweeney (Sharp Objects).

Euphoria, which is being developed for and written for HBO by Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation), is also produced by indie production company A24, who delivered last year’s acclaimed Amazon series, Comrade Detective.

The original series that HBO’s Euphoria is based on ran for just 10 episodes from 2012 to 2013.

Entire Guardians cast wants James Gunn reinstated for Vol. 3

Ten days ago the film world was rocked by the news that Walt Disney Studios had fired writer/director James Gunn from the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The decision came after transgressive Tweets by the director from 2009-2012 were unearthed, Tweets which previously stirred up controversy back in 2012. Now the entire main Guardians cast, namely Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff and Michael Rooker, have written an open letter showing their support of having James Gunn reinstated as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Here is the first paragraph:

“We fully support James Gunn. We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these ten days to respond in order to think, pray, listen, and discuss. In that time, we’ve been encouraged by the outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who wish to see James reinstated as as director of Volume 3 as well as discouraged by those so easily duped into believing the many outlandish conspiracy theories surrounding him.”

This was James Gunn’s statement at the time of his firing from the upcoming Guardians sequel, saying:

“My words of nearly a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative. I have regretted them for many years since — not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don’t reflect the person I am today or have been for some time. Regardless of how much time has passed, I understand and accept the business decisions taken today. Even these many years later, I take full responsibility for the way I conducted myself then. All I can do now, beyond offering my sincere and heartfelt regret, is to be the best human being I can be: accepting, understanding, committed to equality, and far more thoughtful about my public statements and my obligations to our public discourse. To everyone inside my industry and beyond, I again offer my deepest apologies. Love to all.”

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn justified the firing in a brief statement: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”

Earlier this year, director James Gunn revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be released in 2020. Filming was scheduled to start this Fall in Atlanta, but it is unknown if the film will keep to this schedule. The third Guardians film was meant to be the final outing for the original team lineup, and set up future films in the cosmic arena of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
