All the info and reveals at the Marvel Games panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017

The Marvel games panel at San Diego Comic-Con gave out some big reveals, some of which won’t be released in video form until later this weekend. We got information on Marvel’s Spider-ManMarvel LEGO Super Heroes 2Marvel vs. Capcom: InfinitePowers United VRContest of Champions Future Fight, and Telltale Games‘ Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 3. Here is everything we learned at the Marvel games panel.

First up was Powers United VR. We were told that this is a four player co-op game, and as we learned at Disney’s D23 Expo, you can play as Rocket, Hulk and Captain Marvel. Marvel has partnered with Sanzaru Games and Oculus to turn you into an actual superhero. We heard from Bill Rosemann, director of Marvel games who told us, “This is a full body experience with touch controllers and gears on the side. If you’re playing as Rocket, you have the rifle on your back. If you’re the Hulk, you feel massive. By way of the story, he explained that a new group of evil guys have gotten their hands on a cosmic cube that you can use to change reality. “They get the cube, and shatter reality into little fiefdoms and each master gets to rule a location.” Lockjaw will transport you through the worlds and you have to defeat each master. “Every time you play the game, you don’t know what faction you’re going to get or what boss you’re going to get. You may get one or two, or what location in the Marvel universe or what characters you’re going to be playing with.

The big reveal was Deadpool as a playable character. He’s got his katanas, SMGs, desert evil on his bak, shuriken and a toilet plunger you can pummel people with.

Next up was Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. We’ll be reporting from the panel later this weekend, but we learned that you can play the game on the floor today at the con. We were shown a trailer that will be released tomorrow, but we saw Spider-Man, Frank West and Thanos. We saw the Mind Stone that the recently-announced Gamora can use in Hyper Gage. We were told that there is great interaction between the characters. We’ll have more for you from the panel.

Next up from the Marvel games panel was LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. It’s a direct sequel to the first game where Kang the Conqueror has traveled through time to conquer everything from Medieval England to Ancient Egypt. He brings them all together into a huge open world called Kronopolis. The game will be released on November 14.

We also got a character reveal. Carnom appears when Carnage and Venom are fused together. Spider-Gwen is chasing Goblin and all of a sudden the two characters fuse. We learned that he will also morph into something even bigger, which is a new character they created for the game. In addition, we learned that Howard the Duck and Iron Duck will be introduced and voiced by panel host and YouTube personality Greg Miller.

Marvel Future Fight revealed that Kid Kaiju from Monsters Unleashed will appear for the first time ever in a Marvel game. We also got a peek at the villain, Apocalypse. No release date has yet been announced.

Next up in the Marvel games panel was Marvel: Contest of Champions, the mobile game that gets updates almost every month. They recently had a bunch of Spider-Man: Homecoming characters and just revealed Doc Ock and Green Goblin, who we got to see in a short trailer with moves like maniac assault, Oscorp offensive and goblin kind’s blitz.

For Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy from Telltale Games, we learned a little more about the upcoming third chapter in the five-chapter story. We got a look at Gamora’s backstory. We saw Gamora and Nebula fighting on moving platforms. Gamora is training Nebula and Thanos comes in. Nebula pulls a dirty move and Thanos praises her for it. Then she wakes up to Star-Lord over her. He slaps her to keep her from fighting him and she slaps him back. A full on slap fight ensues. The chapter will be available for download on August 22 and the episode is called “More Than a Feeling.” We were told that the developers do listen to what people say about the game and that it does affect what they do next. Nebula, we learned, is particularly affected by your choices in the game. We also found out that Hala the Accuser will be very important in this chapter.

We learned a little about the upcoming PS4 Spider-Man game from Insomniac’s Bryan Inithar. He told us that he thinks the best stories are the ones where Peter and Spider-Man’s world collide. We learned a little more about Mr. Negative and that Aunt May is working for his alter-ego Martin Lee, volunteering. Though we didn’t get a release date or new footage, we did get to see a piece of concept art showing an in-game fight between Spider-Man and Mr. Negative in a subway car, complete with breaking glass and terrified civilians. Inithar also wanted to make it clear that this is indeed an open world game and that we will definitely see Spider-Man do moves you’ve never seen before.
