The Transfiguration: Chilling vampire romance hits VOD in August from Strand Releasing
Vampire movies are a dime a dozen and everything that’s been said about the neck-biting undead has been said. Or has it? A good filmmaker still has the power to take the tried and true and battered to oblivion fangwork motif to sublime heights, to examine dimensions of the vampire mythos previously untapped. Such is Michael O’Shea’s The Transfiguration, a dark, innovative romantic chiller about lost people who find each other in love, obsession…and bloodshed.
Strand Releasing will release The Transfiguration, which dazzled audiences and critics at Cannes and SXSW this past year, exclusively on VOD nationwide August 8th. It’s a trip worth taking. O’Shea’s debut feature follows troubled teen Milo (Eric Ruffin) who hides behind his fascination with vampire lore. When he meets the equally alienated Sophie (Chloe Levine), the two form a bond that begins to challenge Milo’s dark obsession, blurring his fantasy into reality. A chilling portrait of violence, The Transfiguration is a stunning atmospheric thriller set against the grit of New York City.
