Check out clips from August 1 releases The Circle, The Wall and S.W.A.T.: Under Siege!
We’re kicking off the week with three clips from August 1 releases. In the top player below, you can watch as Emma Watson takes you behind the scenes of The Circle. Then, get an inside look at the Doug Liman military thriller The Wall (on Digital HD August 1) and, just beneath that, watch a clip from S.W.A.T.: Under Siege featuring Adrianne Palicki.
Other recent big screen hits coming to DVD and Blu-ray include Nacho Vigalondo’s impressive indie drama meets Kaiju actioner Colossal, the Zach Braff-helmed remake of Going in Style, and the street magician drama Sleight. You’ll also find the UFO thriller Phoenix Forgotten, writer and director Azazel Jacobs’ story of romance reignifed in The Lovers, and the early World War I drama The Ottoman Lieutenant. Finally, Japan’s latest feature film starring the country’s biggest movie star arrives with Shin Godzilla.
Arriving on DVD only, you can catch Annabelle: Creation‘s Lulu Wilson in a direct-to-video franchise sequel arriving more than 20 years after the original, Cop and a Half: The New Recruit.
Shout! Factory has a real treat for James Gunn fans this week as the Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind’s 2006 creature feature Slither arrives on Blu-ray. Not only does the new Scream Factory collector’s edition mark the film’s HD debut, it’s packed with extra features, including a new commentary track from Gunn, Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker.
Steelbook collectors and John Carpenter fans also get a fun set of releases on August 1 with new reissues of the Scream Factory editions of Escape From New York, The Fog and They Live. These are the same discs as the already-great Scream Factory collectors editions, but released with stylish wraparound steelbook artwork to celebrate the Master of Horror!
Kino Lorber then delivers the 1993 thriller The Good Son, which our own Chris Alexander took an extended look at last week.
Small screen releases hitting August 1 include two recent HBO hits: Big Little Lies and Crashing.
Digital HD titles arriving August 1 begin with Ridley Scott’s Alien Convenant, the latest entry in the sci-fi horror franchise he created in 1979. There’s also the young adult adaptation Everything Everything, the family road trip adventure Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, and the Eugenio Derbez comedy How to Be a Latin Lover.
