Kelsey Grammer, CBS TV Studios considering a Frasier revival
Frasier star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer is currently fielding pitches for a potential Frasier revival, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Grammer and CBS TV Studios are considering a follow-up to the popular Cheers spinoff that began its run in 1993 and ended in 2004.
During its 11 seasons on NBC, Frasier won 37 Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes, including being recognized as Outstanding Comedy Series for five years in a row. When the show ended in 2004, Frasier left Seattle and moved to Chicago after following his girlfriend Charlotte, played by Laura Linney (Ozark) hoping to reunite with her.
While early discussions on a Frasier reboot continue, the Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award-winning Grammer recently finished filming the comedy Like Father, starring Kristen Bell and Seth Rogen. The movie centers on a workaholic woman (Bell) who is left at the altar and takes her honeymoon trip anyway with her overachieving father (Grammer) who left her mother because he believed his family was holding back his career. The feature will arrive in theaters on August 3, 2018.
Grammer is also in pre-production on the TV series pilot Proven Innocent, and the drama The Space Between. His other television and movie credits include The Last Tycoon, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, Partners, The Expendables 3, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and 30 Rock.
