Tate Taylor takes over directing duties on Jessica Chastain’s Eve

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Tate Taylor has taken over directing duties for two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain’s action film Eve following the departure of original helmer Matthew Newton, who vacated the position following a backlash when accusations of assault and domestic violence came to light.

This will be a reunion between director and actress as Taylor and Chastain previously worked together on the Oscar-nominated film The Help in 2011. The duo are also developing The Eyes of Tammy Faye as a starring vehicle for Chastain.

While details on the plot of Eve are scarce, the film is said to be a character study that revolves around a female assassin. Chastain will both star and produce Eve using her production company Freckle Films and Voltage Films.

In addition to Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, Nicolas Chartier, and Dominic Rustam will produce through Freckle Films. Jonathan Deckter will be executive producer and Babacar Diene will serve as co-producer for Voltage Films.

Chastain will next be seen in IT: Chapter Two, written by Gary Dauberman from the book by Stephen King, and  directed by Andy Muschietti. The sequel will hit theaters on September 6, 2019.
