Charmed Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
In the previous episode of The CW’s Charmed, the Charmed Ones tried to communicate with their mother through a spirit board, which warned them not to trust their whitelighter, Harry. This episode picked up right where the last episode left off.
Meghan Markle
When the girls said Harry’s name, he appeared. While they discussed whether to trust the spirit board or not, they came up with a code name for him: Meghan Markle. Mel was convinced it was really their mother, while Macy showed some skepticism. Harry had warned them that spirit boards were vulnerable to tricksters. The Book of Shadows turned to a truth serum, and the girls planned to use it before deciding whether to trust Harry.
Truth Serum
Macy’s lab partner, Galvin, informed her that the janitor had gone to the hospital after claiming to be possessed by a black goo. It had made her speak German. Macy wanted to get a sample to give to Harry. When she went to visit the janitor in the hospital to investigate, Harry was there, claiming to be wiping her memory. However, Macy discovered that the janitor later died. She invited him to have tea with her to administer the truth serum.
Unfortunately, the truth serum accidentally went to Nico instead. She confessed that she had slept with her ex shortly before getting back together with Mel. Mel realized the mix-up right away and forgave Nico. Maggie was still trying to rush Kappa, and the anxiety of hearing her future sisters’ thoughts drove her into Brian’s arms. She knew, however, that he was planning to try to get her back. She firmly broke up with him, knowing it would be worse if she led him on.
The Prism
Since the truth serum was a bust, Mel asked the spirit board questions only Marisol would’ve known, and it convinced her and Maggie they were speaking with their mother. They released the spirit, but when Maggie touched her, she began to doubt it was their mother. However, they tried to get a prism from a mirror to help save them from Harry.
Harry was right, though. The spirit was not her mother, but a lower level demon. Maggie vanquished the demon by showing its reflection to itself via her phone. Knowing that Harry was not evil, Macy gave Harry the sample of the black goo, and he determined the demon was the Harbinger of Hell, the third phase of the apocalypse.
