The 2013 book follows the quirky and independent 16-year old Mallory, who discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her with a girl online. When the ensuing breakup goes viral, Mallory swears off boys and technology and, inspired by a list of goals made by her grandmother, decides to “go vintage” and rework her life around the technology, clothing, music and entertainment of the early 1960s. However, long-forgotten secrets quickly arise, making Mallory question whether the simple life ever truly existed.
The film will be produced by Imagine Kids+Family’s president Stephanie Sperber alongside 2 Friends Entertainment’s Nancy Steingard and Wendy Moss-Klein.

“I fell in love with this story immediately upon reading the book,” Sperber said. “The idea of a teen from today giving up all things modern and dressing and living as if it was 1962, is a terrific hook to a sweet romantic story about finding love and understanding your family.”
