According to Variety, the upcoming streaming service Quibi is reviving Comedy Central’s Reno 911! series for a Season 7. The original mockumentary series ran from 2003 to 2009 and was created by Robert Ben Garant, Kerry Kenney, and Thomas Lennon, who also starred in the series.

Garan, Kenney, and Lennon will be returning to write and star in the new season of the show, which parodies the popular series Cops and follows the misadventures of a group of deputies working for the Reno Sheriff’s Department.

“Reno 911! holds a special place in our hearts, and it will be a delight to get the original cast back together for ‘re-boot goofin,’” Lennon said. “Hopefully Nick Swardson can still roller skate. Quibi’s short format seems custom made for our show.”

The classic comedy series featured dialogue that was mostly unscripted with the cast relying heavily on improvisation. A movie adaptation, Reno 911!: Miami, was released in 2007, earning over $22 million at the worldwide box office from a $10 million budget.

Additional casting will be announced later. Artists First’s Peter Principato will serve as executive producer alongside Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg, and Stacey Sher of Jersey Television. Comedy Central’s new studio-production arm, Comedy Central Productions, will produce the seventh season for Quibi.

It has a number of projects currently in development. Guillermo del Toro, Sam Raimi, Catherine Hardwick, Steven Spielberg, Paul Feig, Anna Kendrick, Laurence Fishburne, and Don Cheadle are eight of the many producers and talents who are working hard on the production of the said projects

The streaming service, founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, is set to feature series that run two to four hours in length and are broken down into parts that are no longer than 10 minutes in length.
