Barry Keoghan exits from FX’s Y: The Last Man series
Collider brings word that The Eternals star Barry Keoghan has officially vacated the leading role of Yorick Brown in FX‘s long-in development series adaptation of Y: The Last Man, based on comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan’s graphic novel of the same. This is another setback for the series’ production that has been in development since 2015 following last year’s changing of showrunners with Eliza Clark replacing Michael Green.
In another report by The Hollywood Reporter, the network and Clark has already started scouting for young actors that could replace Keoghan for the lead role. However, it is still unclear if this major setback would affect the show’s scheduled 2020 release date or not.

Based on Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s graphic novels of the same name, Y will be set in a post-apocalyptic world wherein a cataclysmic event has killed every male mammal save for one lone human. It will traverse a world of women — exploring gender, race, class, and survival.
Y: The Last Man follows the story of Yorick Brown, an escape artist who becomes the only surviving man after a catastrophic plague wipes out the rest of the human males. Yorick and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, find themselves in a greatly changed world that is now dominated by women.
Oscar nominee Diane Lane (Unfaithful) co-stars in the series as Yorick’s mother Senator Jennifer Brown, Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) as Yorick’s sister Hero Brown, Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel, No Time to Die) as Agent 355, Amber Tamblyn (The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants) as Mariette Callows, the daughter of the president of the United States, Juliana Canfield (Succession) as Yorick’s love interest Beth, and Marin Ireland as Nora.
