Dark Shadows Sequel Reboot No Longer Moving Forward at The CW
It has been more than a year since it was first reported that Warner Bros. was developing a sequel reboot of the cult classic soap-opera Dark Shadows, and now TVLine brings word that the development of Dark Shadows: Reincarnation has been cancelled and is no longer moving forward at The CW. The outlet notes that the project had failed to score a pilot order.

Dark Shadows: Reincarnation was previously described as a modern-day continuation of the strange, terrifying, and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential, publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they’ve lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror.

The project was being written by Mark B. Perry and was supposed to serve as a sequel to Dan Curtis’ cult classic series Dark Shadows which ran on-air from 1966 to 1971.

There have been several attempts to cash in on Dark Shadows previously, including television adaptations in 1991 and 2004, both of which were short-lived. In 2012, Tim Burton gave the show a big-screen makeover with middling results despite a cast that included Johnny Depp and Eva Green.
