Damian Lewis Exits Showtime’s Billions After Five Seasons

Following yesterday’s fifth season finale, it has been confirmed that Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis has officially exited his leading role as Bobby Axelrod in Showtime’s hit drama series Billions after five seasons. His character was last seen by fans escaping to Switzerland in order to avoid New York State Attorney Chuck Rhoades’ legal reach following his defeat in the hands of Corey Stoll’s Mike Prince.

In addition, the teaser trailer for the upcoming sixth season has also been released, confirming that the Paul Giamatti-led drama is slated to return next year on January 23. The video highlights Prince’s takeover of Axelrod’s previous companies as well as Rhoades’ fight against the criminally rich.

Billions currently stars Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, Maggie Siff, Asia Kate Dillon, David Costabile, Toby Leonard Moore, Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Kelly AuCoin, and Daniel Breaker.

“In season six of Billions, the dust of season five clears to reveal a world that has evolved,” reads the synopsis. “With Axe gone and Michael Prince assuming his place, Chuck must develop a new strategy that is keener and more sophisticated than before. All the players, from Wags to Wendy (Siff), from Taylor to Sacker, and of course Senior, must sharpen their weapons and look for new alliances in order to survive. The ground is ever shifting and the stakes absolute. New king, new war, new rules.”
