Nintendo announced in September that Chris Pratt would be voicing Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie and now a new report claims that he will also be voicing another recognizable animated character. According to said report, Pratt will be providing the voice for Garfield in an upcoming animated film based on the lasagna-loving orange cat.

TheHollywoodReporter published the report describing Pratt’s role in the Sony Pictures film. Alcon Entertainment (Blade Runner 2049, Prisoners) is behind the movie and David Reynolds (Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life) is writing the script while Mark Dindal (Chicken Little, The Emperor’s New Groove) is directing it. DNEG Animation (Paddington, The New Mutants, Venom: Let There Be Carnage) is the team animating it.

This movie has been in the works since 2016 and Dindal was picked to direct in November 2018. However, the film fell relatively silent after until Dindal reiterated that it was still in production in December 2020. This Garfield movie still does not have a release date, though.
