Mythbusters to End After 14 Seasons

Mythbusters will be done after the upcoming 14th season.

After 14 seasons on Discovery Channel, Mythbusters has announced plans to conclude in 2016

Discovery announced today that, after 14 seasons, the hit series Mythbusters will be going off the air. Below, you can check out Adam Savage’s Tweet confirming the news.

“After 248 episodes, 2950 experiments, 1050 myths, and 900 explosions, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will say goodbye to the series this winter,” reads an official statement from the network.

Mythbusters kicked off on Discovery in 2003, hosted by Hyneman and Savage, along with Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara. Inspiring a generation to inquire, interact and get involved with science, the series has used a signature brand of explosive experimenation to prove or disprove popular myths, misconceptions or legends.

Belleci, Byron and Imahara left the series last year, but Mythbusters has continued with just Hyneman and Savage. Recent highlights from the 13th season include “The Simpsons Special” season opener and a Star Wars themed season finale. One episode in season 13 even served as a followup to the 11th season’s “Breaking Bad Special.” Featuring a guest appearance by “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan, the episode saw Savage and Hyneman attempting to react Walter White’s deadly contraption from the season finale of the hit AMC show.

Mythbusters is produced for Discovery Channel by Beyond Productions. For Beyond Productions, Dan Tapster serves as executive producer. Cameo Wallace serves as executive producer for Discovery Channel with Tara Hunter as coordinating producer.

The final season of Mythbusters is slated to premiere January 9, 2016 on Discovery.
