While everyone waits patiently for Season 4 of PBS and Masterpiece’s popular show “Sherlock,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, BBC One has reported that the mysterious Victorian era “Sherlock Special” will be called “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride,” and it will air on PBS and BBC One on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2016 at 9pm Eastern in the States (on PBS and on the Masterpiece website).
This will be the first time that an episode of Steven Moffat’s popular show will air in both countries on the same day, similar to how they’ve handled the “Doctor Who” Christmas Specials.
It’s also been announced on the BBC One Twitter account that Moffat and co-writer Mark Gattis are “busy writing away right now” with plans to start shooting Season 4 in the spring.
