The Tallulah trailer offers a look at the Netflix original movie starring Ellen Page and Allison Janney
Netflix has today released the Tallulah trailer, offering a first look at their upcoming original movie. Written and directed by Orange is the New Black‘s Sian Heder, the film stars Ellen Page and Allison Janney and is set to hit the streaming service on July 29. Tallulah tells the story of young vagabond, Lu (Page), who lives in a van and is fiercely independent in her hand-to-mouth existence. When a chance encounter incites her to impulsively “rescue” a baby from a negligent mother, Lu, at a loss for what to do, turns to the only responsible adult she knows: Margo (Janney), who mistakenly believes she’s the child’s grandmother.
Route One Entertainment is financing the film, and Heather Rae (Frozen River) is producing along with Route One’s CEO Russell Levine, Maiden Voyage’s Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus and Todd Traina. Ocean Blue Entertainment is co-financing the picture.
“We believe in emotionally charged stories with universal themes,” said Route One CEO Russell Levine in a statement earlier this year. “This project has award-winning talent teamed up with a gifted young writer/director who wrote a brilliant script. Ellen Page and Allison Janney will give this film the nuanced comedic and dramatic strength it needs and we’re thrilled to move this project forward.”
The Tallulah cast also includes Tammy Blanchard (Into the Woods, Moneyball), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, Girls), John Benjamin Hickey (The Good Wife, Manhattan) and Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black, The Wiz Live!) also round out the cast.
