QuakeCon: Gameplay Trailers for Quake Champions, Prey, DOOM – Unto the Evil
id Software officially kicked off QuakeCon this week and with it a number of new gameplay trailers for some of their upcoming titles which you can check out below!
First up was the previously-announced Quake Champions, which is set to feature a dozen champions for players to choose from including old favorites like Ranger and Visor, plus newcomers Nyx and Scalebearer. In true Quake fashion, players will have an arsenal of powerful and unique weapons, each of which will feel familiar to long-time Quake players.
“No loadouts, no limit to the amount of guns you can carry,” id Software Studio Director Tim Willits said. “Time the weapon pickups, or kill your opponents. That’s how you get weapons in a Quake game.”
Quake Champions will be going into closed beta in 2017.
Next up is Prey, the reinvention of the series from Arkane Studios, the award-wining creators of Dishonored. Known for their creative gameplay, distinctive worlds and immersive stories, Arkane reimagines this franchise from the ground up, with an added psychological twist. In Prey, you are the first human enhanced with alien powers aboard a desolate space station under assault. Improvise and innovate in order to survive as you search for answers. You awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station — your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities. The fate of the Talos I and everyone aboard is in your hands.
Finally came the trailer for Doom‘s first premium DLC, Unto the Evil, which is now available for players across the globe. Unto the Evil brings three new diverse maps to DOOM multiplayer (Offering, Cataclysm and Ritual), in addition to a new weapon (UAC EMG Pistol), a new playable demon (Harvester) and more. id Software is also introducing the PartyPlay system, which allows anyone to play any of the new maps from Unto the Evil, as long as you party up with a friend who owns the DLC. Similarly, if you own the DLC, the Unto the Evil DLC maps will be accessible to anyone who’s in your party as part of the map rotation.
