Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and scripted by John Ridley and Keith Clarke, the Ben-Hur cast incudes Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Toby Kebbell (Warcraft, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Morgan Freeman (Now You See Me, London Has Fallen), Rodrigo Santoro (300, The Last Stand), Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland, How I Met Your Mother), Ayelet Zorer (Man of Steel, Marvel’s Daredevil) and Sofia Black-D’Elia (Project Almanac, The Night Of).

Ben-Hur tells the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.
The film is based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.” The source material was famously adapted into William Wyler’s 1959 cinematic epic starring Charlton Heston. The 1959 version took home eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film also gave Heston his only Oscar for his performance in the title role.
Look for the Ben-Hur remake to hit the big screen August 19.
