Disney developing a live-action Snow White movie
Walt Disney Pictures is developing a live-action Snow White movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Girl on the Train screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson will write the script for the film.
The live-action Snow White movie will feature new original songs, with La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek & Justin Paul set to write the music. Marc Platt (the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns) is attached to produce.
The animated Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs opened in theaters in 1937 and features the voices of Adriana Caselotti (The Wizard of Oz) as Snow White, Roy Atwell (A Powder Romance) as Doc, Stuart Buchanan (Super-Speed) as the Huntsman, Lucille La Verne (Abraham Lincoln) as Queen/Witch, Moroni Olsen (Notorious) as Magic Mirror, Harry Stockwell (Here Comes the Band) as Prince, Eddie Collins (Drums Along the Mohawk) as Dopey, Pinto Colvig (Mickey and the Beanstalk) as Sleepy/Grumpy; Billy Gilbert (The Great Dictator) as Sneezy, Otis Harlan (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as Happy and Scotty Mattraw (In Old Chicago) as Bashful.
Snow White joins a long list of live-action remakes by Disney of their classic animated films, including the previously-released Cinderella in 2015, this year’s The Jungle Book and Pete’s Dragon, plus next year’s Beauty and the Beast, and the upcoming The Lion King, Mulan, Dumbo, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and more.
