Ron Howard’s comedy pilot 68 Whiskey ordered by Paramount Network
The Wrap brings word that Oscar winner Ron Howard’s (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon, Solo: A Star Wars Story) dark comedy pilot 68 Whiskey has been ordered by Paramount Network. Directed by Howard, the pilot is an adaptation of Charlie Golf One, an Israeli TV series.
68 Whiskey (working title) follows a multicultural mix of men and women deployed as Army medics to a forward operating base in Afghanistan nicknamed “The Orphanage.” Together, they endure a dangerous and Kafkaesque world that leads to self-destructive appetites, outrageous behavior, intense camaraderie and occasionally, a profound sense of purpose.
The pilot was written by Roberto Benabib, co-creator of The Brink, and will be co-produced and co-financed by CBS TV Studios along with Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Television Studios.
Howard will also serve as executive producer alongside Grazer and Franci Calfo, the Imagine Television Group Chairman. Zion Rubin, Charlie Golf One creator, is set to executive produce alongside Efrat Shmaya Dror from the United Studios of Israel and Danna Stern from yes Studios.
