Russo Brothers, TBS developing Quantum and Woody series
Deadline is reporting that Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Infinity War) are developing an adaptation of the Valiant Entertainment — owned by DMG Entertainment — comic Quantum and Woody for TBS.
Quantum and Woody was originally published in 1997 and was co-created by writer Christopher Priest and illustrator Mark Bright. The comic’s characters were inspired by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes’ roles in the comedy movie White Men Can’t Jump. In the comic, the duo are adoptive brothers who come together, after years of estrangement, by the mysterious death of their father. While investigating, the two brothers are accidentally imbued with powers. The characters were reimagined in 2013 by writer James Asmus and illustrator Tom Fowler.
The outlet notes that there were previous rumors that Joel McHale (Community) could star in the series, but no casting decisions have been confirmed.
Mike Larocca (Spy) will executive produce the Quantum and Woody series alongside the Russo brothers through their AGBO.
Valient’s other upcoming projects include the feature Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel for Sony, which will begin filming this month, and Faith, a live-action adaptation written by Maria Melnik featuring the superhero genre’s first plus-size female heroine.
