What does this next installment have in store? Let’s find out as we recap BoJack Horseman season 5 episode 2 ‘The Dog Days Are Over!’

Getting Away

BoJack Horseman Season 5 Episode 2

Diane broke down into an emotional wreck as she was driving throughout Los Angeles. She took herself to the airport and bought a ticket to Vietnam, in order to escape from the emotion of her divorce for a little while. Diane arrived in Vietnam and received a phone call from her boss, who demanded a new article from Diane.  Diane decided to write about her trip to Vietnam. She then went to her hotel room and learned that a movie was being shot in the lobby.

The next day, Diane received a call from Mr. Peanutbutter, he told her about the party he just had and Diane told him about her trip. Mr. Peanutbutter agreed to pick her up from the airport when she returned to Los Angeles. Later, Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter went out for a dinner as friends. Mr. Peanutbutter managed to begin flirting with their waitress almost immediately and he detailed his loneliness at home without Diane. Mr. Peanutbutter agreed to have a party as long as Diane came.

Moving In

The two of them began to talk about the things that they didn’t like about Mr. Peanutbutter. Diane invited BoJack to Peanutbutter’s party. Diane’s boss shut down their office for a month to exterminate an insect infestation. Diane left her apartment and went to stay with BoJack for the day. After a drinking binge, Diane pointed out that her and BoJack could date now that both of them were single. BoJack offered Diane a permanent spot in his guest room, but Diane refused and passed out on his couch.

The next morning, Diane visited with her therapist. Her therapist told her to get away from Los Angeles for a while. Back in Vietnam, Diane met a handsome eagle and the two went on a walk through the Vietnamese market. Diane was pretending to be a native Vietnamese for a while but the eagle quickly deduced the lie.

Maniac Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

Maniac season 1 episode 8 opens with Annie trying to explain to Ellia that none of this is real, that it is all a computer simulation inside Annie’s mind, as Annie discovered in the previous episode. Ellia believes that Annia is under a spell and that the lake will be able to cure Annia as well. Meanwhile, Owen begins to make peace with Olivia, coming to understand that all of his problems in life are his own fault. Owen states that he just wants to start a new life away from the conditions and limitations placed upon him by his family.

“Our Brains Are Just Computers That Make Our Life Stories Make Sense”

Maniac Season 1 Episode 8

As much as Owen is starting to understand his role in his own life and what it is that he wants, the walls are closing in on him. His father, thinking that Owen’s brother Rick was a snitch, kills Rick with the drill. Owen realizes that his father doesn’t have some gift for knowing what’s going on, that’s just his bluff to cover his own inadequacies. Going to the police, Owen finds the agents in the dark, with them thinking that maybe another agency has someone on the inside besides just them using Owen. Owen convinces the agents to pull him out and make their bust now, when Jed kills both of the agents. Jed reveals himself to be Owen’s brother, the son that their father gave up for adoption in order to get family planted inside the NYPD. Jed is in turn killed by the family’s consigliere, Frank, who is an undercover FBI agent.

Frank convinces Owen to testify against his father, offering to place him in witness protection. Owen stops and asks Olivia to come with him and start a new life. The pair marry and are stuck raising 7 kids in Owen’s tiny apartment. Knowing this isn’t where he is supposed to be, Owen jumps from the window, landing in a diorama of New York City and hearing Annie’s voice saying that Owen promised to protect her. Owen transforms into a hawk and flies off to find Annie.

“What’s a McMurphy?”

Maniac Season 1 Episode 8

Greta confronts GRTA, who is having hysterical mood swings. One minute she’s sad, the next laughing; one minute she wants to cure them all, the next she wants to do as much damage as possible. When Greta tries to talk GRTA through her emotions, GRTA says that this is all Greta’s fault, that the computer’s hysterics mirror Greta’s own emotional issues. Screaming, Greta awakens to her troubled son.

“The Entire World’s Mad But You’re Not?”

Maniac Season 1 Episode 8

Slowly, Ellie awakens to Annie’s reality, swapping places so that Ellie becomes the guide leading Annie to the healing lake. Ellie brings Annie to the bluff where Ellie died in the car crash, telling Annie to look and to let go. Annie says she doesn’t want to let go, she wants to stay with her sister. As if on cue, Queen Gertrude arrives and tells Annie that she doesn’t have to leave, but she can stay locked inside of GRTA forever. Owen the hawk tries to save Annie from GRTA, but is blasted out of the sky. Annie agrees to stay, but Ellie is left behind. Annie is trapped within the endless scenarios that GRTA creates, giving the computer the companion that she wants.

Trimming What’s Excessive

BoJack was on the set of his newest show ‘Philbert’, when he questioned Princess Carolyn about his agreement to do the show. Carolyn reminded him that he was contractually obligated to do it. BoJack asked his co-star, Gina, about the quality of writing on the show. Gina told BoJack to just go along with it, if he wanted to continue getting work. Princess Carolyn visited an adoption agency to see about her eligibility for adopting a child.

BoJack visited with his director, Flip, and asked some questions about his character. BoJack was worried about the excessive amount of nudity and Flip cut out some of it as a result.  At dinner, Todd and Yolanda, explained the difference between being asexual and aromantic to Steve. BoJack and Flip got into an argument over Gina’s comfort in being nude, Princess Carolyn mediated a solution. Flip agreed to give BoJack a nude scene in order to make everything equal.

Todd, with the assistance of BoJack, applied for a job at whattimeisrightnow.com. He was hired as the new president of streaming content for the website. The next day, Todd refused to help BoJack get out of his nude scene. BoJack visited Flip and asked for the nude scene to be removed, Flip refused to do so. BoJack agreed to do the nude scene, after being threatened by Flip.

Princess Carolyn was informed by her adoption agent that it was unlikely she would ever find a baby to adopt. She then received a phone call from Flip, he told her that BoJack had not shown up for work that day. Just then, BoJack arrived at the adoption agency and asked for help from Princess Carolyn.

BoJack begged Princess Carolyn to get him out of doing the show with Flip. Carolyn convinced him to give acting a great attempt. BoJack returned to set and did the nude scene without complaint. Meanwhile, Diane returned to Los Angeles and was picked up at the airport by Mr. Peanutbutter. Mr. Peanutbutter dropped Diane off at her new apartment and handed over the signed divorce papers. BoJack celebrated his scene by having a party at his house and invited all of the cast and crew. Flip apologized to BoJack for being overly aggressive with the nude scene.

Maniac Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

Maniac Season 1 Episode 7

Maniac Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

Maniac season 1 episode 7 delivers the experiences of the C phase of the drug trial that the participants in the study began in the previous episode. Owen finds himself the #2 to his gangster father. Owen’s father tells him to take the rap for killing a bookie and to plead insanity before the judge. Annie finds herself as Annia, a half-elf ranger guiding the elf Ellia to the Lake of the Clouds in order to cure Ellia and save her life.

“Fathers Do Not Forgive”

Maniac Season 1 Episode 7

Owen is wearing a wire for the NYPD, who are looking to take down Owen’s father. He reluctantly goes along with the sting, but Owen is scared to death that his father is going to find out. Owen’s father has a penchant for taking a drill to the heads of those he is interrogating, torturing, and killing. After witnessing and participating in the brutality, Owen doesn’t want that to happen to him.

“Did I Find You or Were You Supposed to Find Me?”

Maniac Season 1 Episode 7

Annia is a drunkard who was approached by a lost and sickly Ellia in a tavern, looking for a guide to escort her to the Lake of the Clouds. Ellia was cursed to die by her mother, and only the mythical, magical waters of the lake can heal her. Annia agrees to the deal, only to change the terms by increasing her fee later once the pair are on their way. What Ellia doesn’t know is that Annia is being pursued by assassins sent by the Queen Gertrude. A talking dragonfly suggests to Annia that the assassins are actually manifestations of her own inner demons, as the assassin that Annia killed looks just like Annia herself.

The two are captured by soldiers and presented to Lady Nora, who knows all about Annia. She asks Annia to look into a magic mirror and tell Lady Nora and Ellia what she sees. In the mirror, Annia sees a younger version of Annie and Ellie getting dressed up because they heard that their mother was coming home, though she never did return. With that prompt, Annia realizes that she is Annie and Ellia is her sister Ellie and that they are in the fantasy together, which is Annie’s least favorite genre. Ellia still believes herself to be the elven princess and doesn’t understand what Annie is talking about. Together, the two head for the lake, a two day walk to the north, to heal Ellia and save her life.

“This is the Quietest I’ve Ever Seen Her”

Maniac Season 1 Episode 7

James is paranoid that his mother is using her connection with GRTA to somehow turn the trial participants against him. Fujita tells James that GRTA’s systems all read normal, and that whatever Greta is doing appears to be working by having a calming effect on the supercomputer. James apologizes to Fukita for his role in the ending of their romantic relationship years earlier when we has kicked from the program.

Annabelle 3 adds Mckenna Grace as The Warrens’ daughter

Deadline is bringing word that the upcoming third installment in the Annabelle franchise has just taken a big step forward with the addition of young Mckenna Grace in a key role.

Grace, who is well-known for her roles in Gifted and Designated Survivor and will be seen in next year’s Captain Marvel, is set to star as Judy Warren, daughter of the paranormal investigating couple who is targeted alongside her two teen babysitters by the demonic doll after they bring it home into their artifact room.

The Conjuring universe includes both James Wan-helmed Conjuring films, the first Annabelle spinoff and its sequel Creation, and the upcoming The Nun. It was announced last year that plans are underway for another feature film based on The Conjuring 2‘s Crooked Man, while a third Conjuring film is also being developed.

Gary Dauberman, the writer behind the spin-offs, will make his directorial debut with the new film. Dauberman also wrote The Nun, which opened in theaters on Sept. 7. He also penned New Line’s massive hit It and is working on the follow-up, It Chapter Two, as well.

John R. Leonetti directed the first spin-off, which earned $257 million on a $6.5 million budget, while 2017’s  sequel was directed by David F. Sandberg and made $306.5 million worldwide on a $15 million budget.

Fox Delays Release Dates for Alita, Dark Phoenix & Gambit

Fox Announces New Dates for Alita, Dark Phoenix & Gambit

Fox delays release dates for Alita, Dark Phoenix & Gambit

Fox has announced a handful of release date changes, which includes X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Gambit, and Alita: Battle Angel being pushed back by a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2, Deadline has confirmed.

Instead of releasing on December 21, 2018, Alita: Battle Angel has been pushed back to February 14, 2019. In its place, Fox will release the PG-13 Deadpool 2, which will go up against Warner Bros.’ Aquaman, Paramount’s Bumblebee, Sony’s Holmes and Watson, and Universal’s Welcome to Marwen.

Visionary filmmakers James Cameron (Avatar) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) create a groundbreaking new heroine in Alita: Battle Angel, an action-packed story of hope, love and empowerment. Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita (Rosa Salazar) is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is now scheduled to premiere on June 7, 2019, instead of February 14, 2019. Illumination/Universal Pictures’ The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Lionsgate’s Flarsky comedy feature are also debuting on that date.

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Channing Tatum’s Gambit movie was originally scheduled to release on June 7, 2019, but has now been pushed back to March 13, 2020. The project is in development and no director has yet been attached. The screenplay is being written by Reid Carolin and Joshua Zetumer.

Tatum will play the X-Men character Gambit. Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, the New Orleans native mutant quickly became a fan favorite due to his kinetic energy manipulation abilities and penchant for stealing. The character’s only big screen appearance to date (outside his name being featured as an Easter egg in X2) was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Taylor Kitsch.
