NBC developing workplace comedy Like Magic from Superstore writers
Deadline reports that NBC has bought the rights to a new workplace comedy penned by Superstore writers Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu. The series, titled Like Magic, follows an optimistic young woman who pursues her dreams while working in the Magic Palace.
Kyle and Luu, who joined the Superstore writers’ room in season two, will serve as executive producers, alongside Matt Hubbard and Julie Ann Robinson of Cannylads Productions. Hubbard has a long history with NBC, including the series Ed as well as the short-lived Friends spinoff Joey. Since then, he worked on 30 Rock all through its seven-season run, as well as Parks and Recreation and Superstore. Additionally, Cannylads’ head of development Kelly Pancho will also work as a producer.
CannyLads Productions is also developing two more NBC series, including the drama Capital with Carol Mendelssohn and a political murder mystery drama with Chuck Rose.
