Director Taylor Sheridan’s new thriller looking at Chris Pratt to star
Action star Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World) is in talks for the lead role in Taylor Sheridan’s new action thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sheridan’s as-yet-untitled film will be his follow up to last year’s Wind River. The director also penned the 2016 Western Hell or High Water.
Details are scarce at this point, but the film is said to focus on a black-ops team that targets drug dealers who have protection from other, more conventional federal agencies. David Heyman (Gravity) will produce the project for Warner Bros. Studios.
Despite Pratt’s massive box office draw, both of his upcoming big-budget projects are currently in limbo. He was set to star in Cowboy Ninja Viking, which has been shelved indefinitely due to script issues. In addition, Pratt’s MCU-set Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been pushed back to a 2021 release date as Disney tries to find a new director after the firing of James Gunn, who wrote and directed the first two entries.
Basically, Pratt’s got an empty dance card at the moment, and Taylor Sheridan wants to help fill it. In the meantime, he’ll reprise his Guardians‘ character of Star-Lord in next year’s follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War, due out in theaters May 3.
