Netflix unveils teaser and release date for Australian series Tidelands
Netflix has announced a December 14 global release date and a teaser for the Australian series Tidelands. This marks the streaming service’s first original Australian production, a supernatural story told over eight parts, created by Stephen M. Irwin (Secrets & Lies). You can check out the teaser below!
The series stars Charlotte Best (Puberty Blues) as a young woman who returns home to her tiny fishing village of Orphelin Bay having spent the past 10 years in juvenile detention and jail, and Elsa Pataky (Fast And The Furious franchise) as Adrielle Cuthbert, leader of the mysterious tribe known as the Tidelanders, a half-human/half-Siren who are as beautiful as they are dangerous.
Also in the cast are Australian actors Aaron Jakubenko (Spartacus: War Of The Damned) and Peter O’Brien (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Cal’s cagey, misguided brother Augie and his dutiful deckhand, respectively. Fellow Aussies Madeleine Madden (Mystery Road), Caroline Brazier (Rake) and Dalip Sondhi (Secret City) and Brazilian actor Marco Pigossi (Caras E Bocas), and Kiwi Mattias Inwood (Will) round out the rest of the ensemble.
Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield, who produced Irwin’s Australian hit Secret & Lies and its remake for the U.S., will executive produce the series, which is written by Irwin and Leigh McGrath.
