Rupert Friend to star in William Brent Bell’s Separation
Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland, Hitman: Agent 47) is set to star in Separation, directed by William Brent Bell and written by Nick Amadeus and Joshua Braun.
Equally inspired by iconic family drama Kramer vs Kramer and contemporary supernatural thrillers like The Sixth Sense and Mama, Separation explores the horrifying consequences of divorce like no film before. Additional casting and story details will be announced at a later date.
“As soon as I read Nick and Josh’s script I knew I found my next project,” said Bell. “It blends emotional, relatable family drama with edge-of-your-seat scares and Rupert is the ideal actor to bring both aspects to life.”
Producer Jordan Yale Levine added, “Brent’s a visionary filmmaker and we’ve been eager to work together for years. We could not be more excited to bring his vision to life on the big screen with Rupert leading the way.”
The film is produced by Bell together with Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, Russ Posternak and Jesse Korman, and RainMaker’s Clay Pecorin and Russell Geyser. Executive producers are Seth Posternak and Dennis Rice. Yale Productions’ Jon Keeyes serves as a Co-Producer.
One of today’s most accomplished, in-demand genre filmmakers, Bell is most known for his smash hit horror films The Boy, which was released by STX and grossed $65 million at the worldwide box office and The Devil Inside, released by Paramount with worldwide box office exceeding $100 million.
Friend is best known for his portrayal of Peter Quinn in Showtime’s acclaimed series Homeland. His credits also include Death of Stalin, Hitman: Agent 47, The Boy In the Striped Pajamas, Paul Feig’s A Simple Favor, and the CBS All Access series Strange Angel. Next month, Friend stars opposite Willem Dafoe in At Eternity’s Gate for director Julian Schnabel, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.
