Jeff of the Universe: David Mirkin to develop sci-fi dramedy at YouTube
According to Variety, The Simpsons producer David Mirkin is currently in the process of developing a sci-fi comedy drama series titled Jeff of the Universe. Written and directed by Mirkin, the new show is set to exclusively premiere on YouTube Premium. Further details about the plot are still being kept under wraps.
“Many have desperately tried to keep the stunning, disturbing, life-changing secrets exposed in ‘Jeff of the Universe’ from ever becoming public which is why I am so thrilled to be working with the brave folks at YouTube Premium and Dynamic Television. In addition, they are giving us a totally unlimited budget. At least that is what I am assuming.” Mirkin said during his interview with the outlet.

Jeff of the Universe will be executive produce by Mirkin, Daniel March and Todd Berger along with Holly Hines of Dynamic Television and former Fox and Endemol Shine exec Emiliano Calemzuk. Dynamic Television will also be serving as the series’ distributor and producer.
“David is an incredible storyteller who consistently creates these iconic characters and series.” Dynamic’s Hines said about working with Mirkin. “Getting to work with him and our great partners at YouTube Premium is really an out-of-this-world experience,”

Mirkin has been a producer on The Simpsons for over 26 years now. His work with the iconic animated sitcom has earned him four Emmy Awards. He was also the writer for the 2007 The Simpsons Movie. Mirkin’s other film credits include: the 1997 Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion starring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sovino and the romantic comedy Heartbreakers which was led by Sigourney Weaver.
