Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene won’t crossover with flagship series
Last week it was revealed that The CW had ordered a pilot for Katy Keene, a musical dramedy spin-off of Riverdale. Speaking today at TCA, CW president Mark Pedowitz said not to expect any characters from the main series to show up in the new series.

“Katy Keene takes places years after Riverdale High School,” Pedowicz said (via Deadline). “There are no plans to do anything [regarding a crossover]. Any of the Riverdale characters who come to Katy Keene will be older. Robert [Aguirre-Sacasa] is getting the pilot right.”
Much like the Netflix adjacent Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the shows will have a shared branding with their basis in Archie Comics but won’t see any crossing over in the foreseeable future.
Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene — as they chase their twentysomething dreams in New York City. The musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi will executive produce alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater.
