Skydance Television is in the process of developing an English-language series adaptation of Studio Dragon’s hit South Korean fantasy drama series titled Hotel del Luna. In addition, Alison Schapker (Altered Carbon) has also signed on to executive produce and oversee the project as part of her overall deal with Skydance.

“We are thrilled to have Alison lead the adaptation of Hotel Del Luna, hopefully, our first of many co-development projects with Skydance,” Head of Studio Dragon’s Global Division, Hyun Park said in a statement (via Deadline). “We believe Hotel Del Luna will enhance the reputation of Korean storytelling around the world by showcasing the global appeal of our local stories.”

Directed by Oh Choong-hwan from a script written by acclaimed South Korean writing duo Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, Hotel del Luna centers around the titular mystical hotel which only accepts wandering spirits as guests, who will have the chance to do their unfinished businesses before they pass on the afterlife. Headed by long-time owner Jang Man-wol, the titular hotel has enlisted a new general manager in the form of the smart and capable Gu Chan-sung, who unwillingly got dragged into the supernatural world as he was chosen entirely by fate.

The series is one of last year’s highest-rated Korean dramas which starred K-Pop superstar Lee Ji-eun, better known as IU and Yeo Jin-goo along with Lee Do-hyun, Lee Tae-sun, Shin Jung-geun, Bae Hae-sun, Pyo Ji-hoon, and Kang Mina.

Hotel del Luna will be executive produced by Schapker together with CJ ENM’s Miky Lee, Jinnie Cho, and Hyun Park. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost are also set as executive producers.
