The potential series will center on an office full of misfit agents who investigate X-Files cases too wacky, ridiculous, or downright dopey for Mulder and Scully to bother with, essentially acting as the X-Files’ B-team.
The project has received a script and presentation from the network. The pilot is being written by Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko (Paradise PD) who will also serve as executive producers along with Carter (who is not writing or showrunning) and former The X-Files writer Gabe Rotter.
The X-Files, starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, ran for nine seasons on Fox between 1993-2002. The live-action sci-fi/mystery series spawned two movies, The X-Files (1998) and The X-Files: I want to Believe (2008), before the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning series returned in 2016 for two seasons.
