The Green Knight Clip Features Dev Patel and Alicia Vikander

A24 has released a new The Green Knight clip from David Lowery’s long-delayed medieval fantasy film, based on the timeless Arthurian legend. The video, which you can check out below, features Dev Patel’s Sir Gawain as he gets a cold wake-up call from Alicia Vikander’s character, who dumps a bucket of water on him.  The film is currently slated to debut in theaters next Friday on July 30. Its theatrical release sees The Green Knight going up against two competitors in the form of Disney’s live-action adventure Jungle Cruise and Focus Features’ Matt Damon-led drama Stillwater.

The Green Knight is an epic fantasy adventure with visionary filmmaker David Lowery putting a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table. The film centers around King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew named Sir Gawain, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.

Based on the poem of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the film is directed and written by David Lowery. It stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, and Ralph Ineson.

The Green Knight is being produced by Lowery, Toby Halbrooks, and James M. Johnston through their Sailor Bear banner along with Ley Line Entertainment’s Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page. Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert and Creative Wealth Media’s Jason Cloth are executive producing.
