No Time To Die Earns $56M at the Domestic Box Office, Over $300M Worldwide

Daniel Craig’s 007 swan song No Time to Die had no trouble topping the domestic weekend box office, earning a less-than-expected, though still pretty great $56 million. Per Deadline, Saturday totals fell a little steeper than expected, but given the film’s massive 2 hour and 43-minute runtime and the fact that — Skyfall aside — James Bond doesn’t typically perform as well in the U.S. as he does abroad, this is still a big win for MGM/United Artist/Universal/Eon production.

Speaking of which, the worldwide total for the action pic climbed to $145.5 million bringing its overall cume to $313.3 million with China still on the docket.

The domestic opening for No Time to Die falls behind Skyfall ($88.3 million), Spectre ($70.4 million), and Quantum of Solace ($67.5 million), but well ahead of Casino Royale ($40 million) back in 2006. Should this one leg out like Casino Royale, Skyfall, or even Spectre, a domestic total close to or greater than $200 million is not out of the question. Word of mouth has been solid, with audiences awarding No Time to Die an A- CinemaScore, which equals Spectre and Casino Royale.

Of note, previous Bond pics opened in November and benefited from an extended holiday run. It’ll be interesting to see how the world-renowned spy handles himself against the likes of Halloween Kills, Dune, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife in the weeks ahead.

Elsewhere, last week’s champ, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, pulled in another $31.1M (-65%) to bring its domestic total to $140.8M million which is just -1% off from the original Venom’s total over the same time frame.
