Welcome to the jungle in a New Tarzan poster
Welcome to the jungle, we’ve got apes and Jane! Warner Bros. Pictures (via Fandango) has released a new poster for The Legend of Tarzan which you can check out in the gallery below! From David Yates (director of the last four Harry Potter films), the new take on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ jungle hero stars Alexander Skarsgård (“True Blood,” Battleship) in the title role alongside a cast that also includes Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz and Djimon Hounsou. The jungle adventure hits theaters July 1.
The film begins years after the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
Tarzan made his first appearance in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 1912 novel “Tarzan of the Apes.” The jungle hero would go to be the focus of an additional 23 novels by the author. In the century since the character’s inception, Tarzan has been adapted into just about every medium, including dozens of different feature film iterations.
