Comcast is looking to acquire some of Fox’s assets, something Disney was in talks for earlier this year
Comcast is looking to acquire some of 21st Century Fox’s assets, something Disney was in talks for earlier this month, according to CNBC. The Comcast deal would be for 21st Century Fox and the Fox Television Production companies, not for Fox News, Fox Sports or the FOX channel. A source told the site that the talks are ongoing, and that the assets are the same ones Disney was interested in.

Earlier this month, Disney was in talks to purchase most of 21st Century Fox, leaving them focused on news and sports. Under U.S. rules, Disney and/or Comcast can only own one broadcast network. Comcast already owns NBC and has NBC news. The deal would reportedly leave out Fox’s news and sports assets to steer clear of antitrust laws. The news has raised Fox’s shares 6 percent in after-hours trading. Comcast reportedly rose 0.75 percent. The site also reports that though Disney and Fox are not currently in talks, the deal is not dead on their end.
A source for the site says that Verizon Communications is also interested in acquiring parts of Fox.
What do you think of Comcast possibly buying Fox assets? Would you rather see them there or at Disney? Let us know in the comments.
