Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones in talks for The Aeronauts
The two leads from 2014’s The Theory of Everything are set to reunite again as Variety reports that Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne is in talks to star in Amazon Studios’ new original film The Aeronauts, and Deadline is reporting that Felicity Jones is also in talks.
The pair will play balloon pilot Amelia Wren and scientist James Glaisher who, in 1862, embarked on an extraordinary journey to discover the secrets of the heavens. In the process, they flew higher in an open balloon than anyone had before or has since. They made breathtaking discoveries, but as they ascended to the highest points of the atmosphere, they were forced into an epic fight for survival.
Tom Harper (War & Peace) is set to direct the film, which was written by Jack Thorne (Wonder, How I Live Now).
Redmayne can next be heard in the animated film Early Man, to which he lent his voice, and next be seen in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald reprising his role of Newt Scamander. The sequel to last year’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to hit theaters on November 16, 2018. A spin-off of the Harry Potter franchise, the first film brought in over $814 million at the global box office.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s Jones can next be seen in the upcoming biopic On the Basis of Sex, detailing the life story of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
