Jimmy Kimmel joins comedy pilot Man of the House
Jimmy Kimmel (host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!) is joining ABC‘s comedy pilot Man of the House as the show’s narrator alongside the previously-announced Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother), Leslie Bibb (American Housewife), Jake Short, Jenna Ortega, and Reece Caddell.
Inspired by the life of co-creator Frank Pines, Man of the House is a multi-camera series that follows two recently-divorced sisters (Hannigan and Bibb) who decide to move in together to raise their kids under one roof. The oldest kid and only son, Bradley (Short) is left to figure out what manhood means in a world where he’s now completely surrounded by females, which also includes a sister (Caddell), and cousin (Ortega). Bradley will not only juggle his life at home with his family but the masculine world of football at school.
Kimmel will narrate offscreen as the grown-up version of Bradley. Kimmel commented: “I’ve often thought of myself as an ‘Older Bradley,’ so that works out well.”
Frank Pines and Vijal Patel serve as writers and executive producers on the show, with Kerry Washington (Scandal) also executive producing via her Simpson Street banner alongside Street’s Pilar Savone. Gail Berman and Joe Earley of The Jackal Group will also executive produce alongside ABC Studios.
The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
