Michael B. Jordan and Joe Robert Cole team up on Netflix’s Failsafe
Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole and star Michael B. Jordan (Creed II, Fahrenheit 451) are teaming up together on Netflix‘s adaptation of Failsafe after the streaming site won rights to the project.
Based on the Vault Comics graphic novel written by F.J. Desanto and Todd Farmer, Failsafe centers on protagonist John Ravane, a legendary insurgent hunter who thought he had executed the last nanotech-enhanced super soldier in a personal battle that included the kidnap of his daughter. A decade later, it becomes clear that sleeper agents scattered around the country are activating, in an attempt to take over New York, and the government leader who pressed him into duty last time has been exposed as corrupt.
Cole will pen the script for the project which will be produced by Jordan and Alana Mayo through their Outlier Society Productions banner along with Desanto. Jordan may potentially star in Failsafe, though it’s being reported that the highly in-demand actor will decide that when the script is finished. After Failsafe was pitched following the massive success of Black Panther, many potential suitors were eager for the re-team between Cole and Jordan and the deal ended up in the high six-figure range.
The news was first reported by Deadline.
