The Walking Dead AR game takes a bite out of Pokemon Go this July
AMC and Next Games have announced that The Walking Dead: Our World, a location-based, augmented reality mobile game that will allow players to fight walkers from wherever, will be released on July 12th. The game will also allow players to interact will popular characters from the TV series such as Rick, Michonne, and Daryl. The game will be made available on both Android and iOS. The Walking Dead: Our World encourages players to defend their neighborhoods from Walkers by walking around in the real world to move their avatar around. Players will be able to see Walkers with AR, through the phone’s camera. Along with fighting of the Walkers in the players surrounding area, they will be able to collect ‘stashes’ to help their cause. What these ‘stashes’ include is unknown, but they will most likely include tools to help players defeat the Walkers. Of course, players will not being taking on the zombie apocalypse alone as they can recruit characters of the show that can be leveled up as players move forward in the game.
AMC’s hugely popular zombie show, The Walking Dead, is headed into it’s ninth season that is set to premiere this fall. The Walking Dead is welcoming a new showrunner and is expected to have some change ups in their cast the upcoming season. The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Amelio, Tom Payne, Xander Berkeley, Khary Payton, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
