The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep wraps production

Director Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) took to Facebook to announce that production has officially wrapped on Warner Bros. Pictures’ Doctor Sleep, an adaptation of Stephen King’s literary sequel to The Shining.

“So that’s a wrap on DOCTOR SLEEP! It’s been a long, crazy, truly unique experience. I read the novel as soon as it came out back in 2013, fascinated and moved by the epic story of Dan Torrance and Abra Stone, but I never imagined for a moment that I’d be the person to bring it to the big screen. It’s been an honor to spend the last five months with this fantastic cast and crew, and to be trusted with Stephen King’s extraordinary story. One of the highlights of my career, without a doubt.”

“Shine on, everyone. Shine on.”

Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant shining power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes “Doctor Sleep.” There Dan meets Abra Stone (Curran), and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival.
