Hulu developing series Simultaneous from Bird Box writer Eric Heisserer
Hulu is going all out for its next project. According to Deadline, the streaming service has struck a six-figure penalty deal with screenwriter Eric Heisserer (Bird Box) to develop a series based on his short story Simultaneous. Heisserer will also produce alongside his Lights Out producing partner Lawrence Grey.
Per the report, the story is said to be a “cerebral detective thriller involving regenerative past lives.” Colby Day is set to pen the script, while Kate Smith and Jordan Helman will oversee the project for Hulu.
Heisserer struck gold with the remarkable success of Netflix’s Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock, which drew an estimated 45 million viewers in one week, according to the streaming service. He also wrote the screenplay for Arrival, and the upcoming Vin Diesel film Bloodshot, based on the comic book series.
