New Marvel’s The Punisher trailer teases a showdown with Jigsaw
Just one day after a teaser that promises The Punisher is going “back to work” for season two, Marvel just released a trailer for the show’s sophomore season on Twitter, which will be able to stream on Netflix starting January 18. The trailer shows the similarities between Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and Jigsaw (Ben Barnes), as their inner monologues drive them to two very different extremes. In the end, Castle wants to don his Punisher garb and be the person he believes he was always “meant to be.”
In the first season of The Punisher, Castle was seemingly free to resume his life without fear of prosecution, thanks to a Presidential pardon. We don’t know what will cause Castle to reclaim his Punisher persona, but it likely has something to do with Billy Russo’s return as Jigsaw — complete with a new mask. Amber Rose Revah’s Dinah Madani and Jason R. Moore’s Curtis Hoyle are the only other cast members officially returning from the show’s first season.
Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) can run but he can’t hide from who he’s meant to be. Season two finds Frank in all too familiar territory. With Castle’s former brother-in-arms Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) slowly beginning to heal from the traumatic brain injury Frank inflicted on him, it’s only a matter of time before Billy starts to put the pieces of the puzzle back together.
