The film, written and directed by Hittman, is an intimate portrayal of two teenage girls in rural Pennsylvania. Faced with an unintended pregnancy and a lack of local support, Autumn (Sidney Flanigan) and her cousin Skylar (Talia Ryder) embark across state lines to New York City on a fraught journey of friendship, bravery, and compassion.
In addition to Flanigan and Ryder, the cast is set to feature The Blacklist and New Amsterdam‘s Ryan Eggold, On Becoming a God in Central Florida‘s Théodore Pellerin and The OA and Twin Peak‘s Sharon Van Etten. The film is being produced by Adele Romanski (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) and Sara Murphy.
Hittman made her feature debut with the well-received It Felt Like Love in 2014 and followed it up with the acclaimed 2017 drama Beach Rats, as well as directing two episodes of Netflix’s hit teen thriller 13 Reasons Why and HBO’s celebrated stoner dramedy High Maintenance.
