Greg Nicotero reveals new writers for Creepshow Season 2
In a recent interview on Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew Podcast, creator Greg Nicotero has confirmed new details about the upcoming second season of Shudder’s horror anthology series Creepshow, revealing that he is again set to direct in the next season with three episodes. The Walking Dead executive producer has also revealed the status of the scripts while also teasing the new talented writers, who will be joining the creative team this season. In addition, Nicotero also shared that a few of the previous writers from Season 1 are also returning to the series including John Esposito, David Schow, Paul Dini, and Stephen Langford.
“We have 90% of the scripts written, and the scripts are absolutely fantastic,” Nicotero said. “I’m so proud of them and so excited. I feel like going into season two, learning what I’ve learned, I had a lot more fun developing the stories. I’ve written a couple of the scripts myself. And I just finished a script that’s based on a Joe Hill story.”

He continued, “One of the scripts that was written by a friend named Frank Dietz is called ‘Pesticide.’ And it’s about this exterminator who does some unsavory things and he is in essence haunted by some of these creatures that he has killed. So that’s where the giant spider comes from.” He also teased other writers who have contributed to the new season, “There’s an author named Joe Konrath who I really like; we have John Esposito coming back; we have David Schow coming back; there’s a woman I worked with on ‘The Walking Dead’ named Melanie Dale, she wrote a script; there’s also a writer/director named Mattie Do, her and her husband Chris Larsen wrote a really cool script for us. Paul Dini and Stephen Langford, who wrote ‘Skincrawlers’ last year, wrote a script for us. The scripts are really fun. I can always tell if a script is successful if I want to direct. So I’m directing three of them.”
The first season Creepshow, available to stream now and on Blu-ray (click here to grab your copy!), featured original Creepshow star Adrienne Barbeau, Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) Tobin Bell (Saw), Tricia Helfer (Lucifer), David Arquette (Scream franchise), Dana Gould (Stan Against Evil), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Bruce Davison (Longtime Companion) and DJ Qualls (Supernatural).

The original 1982 Creepshow was directed by George A. Romero from a screenplay by Stephen King that paid tribute to the EC horror comics (ala “Tales From the Crypt”) of the 1950s. The film featured stars such as Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, and Ed Harris, and grossed $21 million at the box office. It was followed by a sequel in 1987, directed by the first film’s cinematographer Michael Gornick from a screenplay by Romero, once again based on short stories by King, grossing $14 million.
