Just a week after partnering with director Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) for a new film and TV franchise of the iconic Hasbro characters, eOne has tapped Bryan Edward Hill (Titans) to pen a new Power Rangers film, according to Deadline. The comic book author and screenwriter took to Twitter to confirm the news and express his excitement about the project.

Last week brought the news that the rights to the Power Rangers franchise had shifted from Paramount Pictures to the Hasbro-owned eOne, with Entwistle also making the jump to shepherd both a film and TV franchise that would go hand-in-hand with one another. Paramount had tapped Entwistle for a big-screen reboot after the 2017 box office failure at Lionsgate but the studio lost the rights to the series after Hasbro acquired production banner eOne in late 2019 and the company shifted to produce a new adaptation themselves with a more branched-out plan.

This is an unbelievable opportunity to deliver new Power Rangers to both new and existing generations of awaiting and adoring fans,” Entwistle previously said in a statement. “We’ll bring the spirit of analog into the future, harnessing the action and storytelling that made this brand a success.

Initially based on the Japanese tokusatsu franchise Super Sentai, Saban Entertainment brought the American iteration to life with the 1993 Fox Kids series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, whose success spawned the franchise that would include multiple TV series, a 1995 film, action figures and other toys from Bandai.
