Michael B. Jordan Eyeing the Director’s Chair for Creed III

Michael B. Jordan Eyeing the Director’s Chair for Creed III

The ever talented Michael B. Jordan is looking to take his game to a whole new level. According to a report by Deadline, the Black Panther star is considering stepping behind the camera for Creed III. Nothing is confirmed just yet, though SlashFilm notes that an interview with producer Irwin Winkler (via Men’s Health) last year also brought up the possibility.

“I promised Michael B. Jordan that he’d get his chance to direct Creed III,” Winkler said. “Last year in a conversation with our Creedstar Michael B. Jordan, I offered him the opportunity to not only star in, but also to direct Creed III.”

Again, nothing is set in stone, but Creed III needs to happen and having Jordan slide behind the camera would be pretty great, if only because it would mirror Sylvester Stallone’s move behind the camera for Rocky II; and potentially confirm that Jordan will be making Creed movies well into his 70s.

Creed II released back in 2018 to great reviews (83% on RT) and a worldwide box office take of over $214M, which was a marked increase over the original’s $173M WW take.

Since that time, Jordan has appeared in the TV series Gen: Lock and starred in the film Just Mercy. His next film, Without Remorse, based on the Tom Clancy novel, was delayed due to COVID-19 and is expected to release on Feb. 26, 2021 — perhaps directly on Amazon.
