Based very loosely on the Vertigo comic, Lucifer tells the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar abandoned his throne. He then retired to Los Angeles, where he has teamed up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals.
The series currently stars Tom Ellis as the titular devil, Lauren German as Chloe, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Rachel Harris as Linda, Scarlett Estevez as Trixie, Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez, Inbar Lavi as Eve, and Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza.
It’s interesting to see how Alejandro’s Dan will be appearing in the final season, given his unfortunate fate during the last season. It was also previously confirmed that he will also be serving as the director for the first episode of the sixth season titled “Nothing Ever Changes Around Here,” as well as it penultimate episode titled “Goodbye Lucifer.” In addition to Alejandro, another cast member has also directed one of the final episodes of series, with Woodside directing the eighth episode titled, “Save the Devil, Save the World.”
The fifth season was originally going to be the final season for the fan-favorite series. However, Netflix decided to surprise fans and renew it for a sixth and final season last year, which will consist of 10 episodes.
